What I havent seen is tweeter protrusion/height specs, new here!

Hey all, I just discovered this forum and I think I'm gonna like this place. I have the unfortunate predicament of living in an area where Circuit City and Best Buy is high end to most people, and have never been able to hear brands such as Focal...cuz as one guy at Best Buy put it, "isn't that a car that Ford makes?" I have a classic red 2002 Protege 5 and I know this place is going to make me dump a ton of money into her, but that is ok..he he. I had Infinity kappas in my old 626 so it seems my old 5x7 kappas (green) will fit the front. I have been told there is only 4/10 of an inch clearance before an installed 6.5 in the back door will hit the factory grill in regards to the tweeter protrusion. So, a place like Crutchfield says only one 6.5 will fit...and it's low powered and s***.

Will a 2003 (grey) Infinity Kappa 2-way 6.5" drop into that back door spot without any mods to get it to fit (besides the rubber rain guard)?

I do not want to go with a sub if I can help it. I want clear smooth fidelity with a nice bass presence. The kappas are about as low in quality as I would like to go, and something a bit smoother on the treble would be nice. I would prefer to not use separates even though I know they sound better. What are your opinions for speakers to put in..using 2 way in both locations.

I checked out the boston NX series and thought they were a bit too brash and brittle sounding and what lows they produced seems colored and lacking. JL's seemed nice and smooth. That is about as far as I can get in this area. Any places in Central California dealing in high end?

Many thanks, Jusden

I forgot to mention I am running a MTX Thunder 4 channel amp with the tec specs putting it as 64 watts rms per channel, 8 gau power cable, white wolf fosgate rca's and distributor and one of Panasonic's nicer 4-volt pre cd deck.
Will that amp fit under the front seat of the PR5? thanks, Jusden

For a smooth Tweeter the JL VR series really can't be beat.
If the rer doors are anything like the front then you have atleast 3/4" before the speaker comes in contact with the door but you'll have to take a razor to a little plastic lip that stick out on the back of the speaker grill. It is always best to listen to speakers first. I had a customer come in last Satureday and he wanted JL XR coaxles, he bought Pioneers becuase I insisted he listen first and he liked those better.

The Only BAs that aren't harse are the RC line and the Z series. RC are components as are Zs not to mention Zs are a $1000 a pair.

For smooth tweeter you might also want to see if you can find an ADS dealer.

Infinitty is good suff and if you want to try them first as long as you can return them there is no loss. From all the people that have swapped there rear speakers I have yet to hear someone say it hits the door panel.

As for finding dealers just go onto the websites of the manufacturers you like and go to the locate a dealer section.
