What have you done to your P5 today?

Gonna go fuel-up with 89 oct (regular is 85-86 here) to see if it makes a difference with the ZFR5F plugs. :)

Finally got to work on my rear diffuser. Here is a pic in its current rough state. Still have a lot of trimming and sanding left to do on it.

You can't tell from this picture, but the center section is curved and the two sides are flat.

Thoughts/opinions welcome...

I doubt you'll notice a difference using higher-octane gas, the plugs themselves should produce a noticeable difference with regular gas. Unless you have an MP3 ECU that you're not telling us about :)

I finally got around to working on my car, the new fuel pump body is in, read about it here. I'm glad to be driving my P5 again, for the past couple days I've been using my land-yacht (aka Le Maxima) because I couldn't stand the gas fumes in traffic anymore.

Tomorrow I'll take a whack at that broken exhaust hanger.

Ive read alot before switching plugs. I read from trustable sources that it relocates the ignition point and thus advances timing by a LITTLE bit. not expecting nascar performance, but yea MP3 ECU is definitively on its way this summer,
Maybe i should wait for oct89 when i get my ecu, huh.

ya sorry.. too much word-to-word translation from the french. :)

^Seriously, he expects too much from us Quebecers :P

Mine actually looked worse than that when I started, it took a good 20-30min of wire brushing to be able to start seeing the heads, then for the next two weeks while I waited for parts I sprayed down the screws with PB blaster and tapped them with a hammer and a #2 Philips every couple days. By the end they looked pretty good, but of course, the heads were still all very soft.

I don't blame you for taking to a shop, I was quite nervous to deal with opening the tank in my driveway. I wore a respirator but still ended up feeling light headed and sick afterwards, it's definitely something I wouldn't want to have to do again.

the shop is going to pump out the gas, i was going to buy one of those small shop pumps but what would i ever use it for again? i don't think i would have done this with gas still in the tank though?

That would be the smart way to do it :P

I ran the tank until it was almost empty and made sure to have a fan blowing a lot of air through the car before I pulled the pump out. As soon as the pump came out I plugged the hole with a big towel, that surprisingly worked quite well to keep the fumes down.

Drove it. Front clunk noise is worse now and on both sides. Gong to have to get under it again and taje stuff off and see What I find ..

On another note from 3 k to 5k my car is holding back and hesitating once it hits 5k it picks up power back up as if it had hit vtec like a Honda lol here is a vid.
What could it be ?

^That seems pretty normal to me, there isn't much power to be had before ~5k RPM. Keep in mind that at 5250 RPM the VICS system kicks in so you might just be noticing that...
