What have you done to your P5 today?

hope your tint laws aren't as strict over there... cuz here it's $279 per window that's illegally tinted...

Oh, i live in california, were not supposed to have anything on the fronts.

the reason i went and did it was because my interior gets incredibly hot, and my shift knob gets hot enough to liquify gold.

plus the fabric on the door panels is starting to fade...

i drive with my windows down 90% of the time, so i dont see it as an issue

hehe... they always tell me to roll my windows up :(
i agree i like darker tint but after two tickets i said f*(k that

Probably cause, when they run your plate, they see that u had tint problems before.

I would like to tint, but I drive a lot at night now.

yeah i just detailed my engine bay, so i took it for a quick spin to make sure everything was running ok, and to try up the bay a bit.

i forgot how dark 20% tint was. i had it done on my mazda6 last year.

Here are the pictures before and after front tint

like i said earlier the fronts dont 100% match the rears, but its ok. it doesnt look that bad. it just looks like i have a light tint on the fronts from the outside.

oh and a terrible night picture of my now cleaner engine bay (it wasnt super dirty, just generally dusty)

I have an '02 P5, 154k miles and am considering doing two things in the near future to it. As of now, the car is bone stock except for a K&N drop in filter element. As for the two things I'm considering-

Since buying the car, I've always used Castrol 5w-30 oil and I regularly change my oil and filter. I'm considering using synthetic oil if there was a REAL benefit in horsepower or mileage, or protection. A salesman (!) at the local dealership said he gets big mileage gains in his perosonal Corvette by using Mobil 1.

The other thing I'm considering is chipping my P5. I saw an ad for SLR chips and they make some huge claims about horsepower and mileage gains and the chips cost somewhere about $60-70. I'm pretty skeptical of any huge gains, but what can I reasonably expect and which chip should I consider and what do they cost?

Mainly, I'm looking for mileage, reliability, and a few extra horses never hurt anybody...

Ok, I guess "chip" is the wrong word, but is there an ecu mod or something along those lines that can help out? I'm the first to admit I don't know it all and I saw the SLR ad and it intruiged me.
Cheers and thanks.

Its a waste of money, trust me lol There's no cheap way to get around the ECU on these cars...

Yeah, probably just the resistor that tells the ecu that the intake air is 41 degrees all the time so that it'll add a bit more timing & fuel. CACA.............Gave the P5 the day off due to bad weather which calls for the bad weather crazy ass truck, woohoo, fun for me but for others.............not so much. lol.

No...I just got the mazdaspeed springs...do I need to get different shocks for those...I am not wanting it any lower...I drive way to much city driving to make it practical to go any lower...

You should be ok with the stock struts for a while. You should look into getting yourself a set of shocks in the future though just in case. Just scout the for sale forums every so often. I ended up getting all four Tokico HP's for 165 with 10k on em. They look practically brand new.
