What have you done to your P5 today?

Ok I just spent 3 hours claybaring and only got about half the hood done. I'm throwing a big ******* hissy fit right now because it looks like s*** and I don't know what I did wrong.

I made sure to lubricate the surface with the quick detailer like the instructions said, then I claybared and put some muscle into it to see the gunk come up. The problem was that it took forever to do and it's not even at all.

your supposed to do a small area at a time. and you dont have to put alot of force into just a lil. You know your done with that spot once its smooth. Once that SMALL area is smooth wipe it off with a cloth towel or something right after.

Did not do it direct sunlight and I actually think I overdid it and lifted up all of the s*** that has accumulated into the clearcoat over the last 7 years. I don't know what it looks like now since it's dark but I'll see in the morning. (braindead

Standing behind their work and rebuilding if it blows are two different stories!

The first 3rd srtipped both gears that make up 3rd and i was grannyshifting at 2500-3k. But the weekend before I was giving her hell. The last one I broke 2 teeth and i don't even know how or when it happened just wouldn't go into 3rd. Its just a toss of the dice!

How hard were you on it when your tranny went (twice). I had ni idea I was gonna have that much power in the car. I would have been happy with 230! Im kinda scared the the tuner wants to bumo it up to 8 psi! The shop is standing behind their engine work though. So, we'll see. Hopefully he gets me a printout, because i would like to see it in black and white myself. BTW it is a garrett turbo. T3 ball bearing oil fed and water cooled.

^^^ I need to get me that (just another addition that Mazda should have had stock). So yesterday my used Racing Beat rear swaybar came in and I had some stock endlinks come in on Monday. Now I know you can't use stock endlinks with the MSP bar but I currently have the Progress bar back there with AWR endlinks (LOUD!) and I'm going to do a little preference testing. I wonder what will be better: RacingBeat + AWR, Progress + Stock, or Progress + AWR. I'll hopefully get to it this weekend.

Check ebay and junkyards. Found mine on ebay for $45 shipped....IIRC the stalk is from an 04 Tribute.

Yes, Escape will work in addition to early 2000my MPV's. I can't remember the exact years at this time.

Sh!t, there are some incredible photos of P5s in this forum. I have a 2002 P5 w/80,200 miles on it...all stock. However, some of the photos I have seen piqued my interest and I already found myself looking at rims online today. The trouble for me is that I have zero idea what anyone is talking about when words like Camber Kit, short intake, etc. Essentially, I'm car-talk-retarded. I just learned today that Flowmaster mufflers make a car sound deeper and louder. Yeah, I'm that in the dark with car mods. Understandably so though...I have little interest in doctoring my car up except for maybe tinting the windows. On another note, I did pick my car up from the shop yesterday; changed the timing belts, tensioner, pulleys, water pump and flushed the radiator...all for $550.00. So silent I can't even tell it is on. Love it.
Anyone in the P5 forum also own a Mazda5?
I think I'm in love with them.

Lol....search is your friend and if you have no luck finding answers through that, then ask. A lot has been tried throughout the years. That's not a bad price for the work you had done. I had a quote recently of $725 +/- anything that may go wrong, ie: rusted bolts.

And yes there are a few members who also have a '5'.

To be honest, I was perusing some website online. At this point, there wasn't any certain brand, size or style I was after. I really like the idea of white wheels on my red P5 but feel it would look a *little* silly having flashy wheels on my all stock car. Not that there is anything "wrong" with my all stock car...but it definately doesn't have the aggressive/tweaked up appearance that many of the photos I have seen on here do. Jealousy is slowly setting in...

The most helpful post - my next project

Of all the threads I have come across thus far, the most beneficial post to me dealt with "A/C only works in position 1 & 4." Yup, mine too. Fortunately, I ended up buying an extended warranty on my car that covers everything except routine maintenance. I spoke to them earlier and found out they would cover the A/C Control unit I need to replace. Also found the local shop that will accept the extended warranty...as I have read, I should stay away from Mazda dealerships.

Careful putting aftermarket wheels on without lowering the car...can end up looking a bit "4X4"ish......unless you're going for the "donK" look...

My advice is keep the stock rims...they are LIGHT, and not bad looking...use the money to actually increase some aspect of performance...

#1 lowering springs...best cosemtic and performance mod hands down...
