What have you done to your P5 today?

What kind did you get?

They're Eurolite Xenon Fusion's. So far, I really like them! Nice and white, brighter than stock, but not overly bright that I know they'll be blinding to other drivers.

Man, I'd forgotten how much of a pain it can be to change the P5 headlights. :)

andrew, lovin' the new sig :D it's awesome!

my baby is in right now with her guts ripped out... :) she's getting a new clutch, flywheel, rear motor mount, the egr has been cleaned, oil change (amsoil), and a top-up of tranny fluid (redline).

i wanted to do the udp, timing belt, and intake cam but i haven't received some of the parts yet and my income tax refund wasn't quite as much as i was hoping for :( also waiting to be installed once i move is the p&p'd MP3 IM and MP3 ecu (should be receiving that in a month or two, yippee!)

it's the street clutch from ACT - any feedback on how that will feel compared to the stock one for driving?

It's good that you're happy with them. Is the glass on them colored?

Yep, I would also ask them. They didn't need to take the valve cover off to put a borescope down there and have a look. It only takes a second to have a look around the cylinder. I would also make sure they did a compression test on the cylinder that had the screw in it.

I would still ask them. No since in 'trusting' that they did indeed look. Sorry, no disrespect to any mechanics here, I do take my cars to one, but I have been burned before by a dealer's service dept.

I will go ahead and say ditto to amaff on this one. The ol loose screws on the intake manifold have hit more than a few here on the forum. You are one of the lucky ones that is covered by warranty/recall. Mine fell into neither of those 2 categories and Mazda wouldn't cover anything for me. Anyway, it's not really too much of a problem as long as they check out the cylinder/s with a borescope and make sure it didn't score the cyl walls too badly. Did yours not run like total dogs*** when you heard all the noise ? I don't recall what you posted.....Mine was a total mess when it first went. ........

it ran fine. i dont think the screw came all the way out, just really lose. i was able to drive it to the dealer going the highway i just granny drove it to b safe

Ahhhh, OK. You would have noticed if you lost screws. I think in pretty much every case the screws got thru the intake mani and out onto the top of the piston and crushed the bottom the spark plug instantly causing it to run like total s*** and throw a check engine light. Luckily with mine it spit the screw just after it crushed it, I regapped the plug to check it out and it ran fine. I still had it towed to the dealer cuz I wasn't totally sure I wouldn't mess something up........

question guys:

Have you guys heard of any bad reviews for any of the following:

POLARG, LUMINICS OR MTEC?

I need to get new bulbs but not sure which to get? Then there are NOKYA but not sure which bulbs to go for. Anyone have any ideas or opinions?

I have been searching for reviews but can't come up with any results.

Its just a tad bit stiffer than stock. You know a little bit stiffer is always good (wink)

You will notice the difference for the first few shifts after that it just becomes natural and you'll for get about the difference.

To me the stock clutch felt way to spongy and my ACT feels just right. A friend of mine drove it and he says it feels just like the clutch in his MSP.

Yeah, the glass was tinted blue. When I look at the light it emits though, I can't detect any blue tinge...

Here's a bad review of Luminics:

I had them (the ultra-white H7s, a couple months later one exploded spraying glass all over the friggin headlight housing (had to pull the bumper and headlight, bake the headlight, open it up, get the class out, sand the housing, and repaint (since the burning glass had damaged the finish). At that time, I checked the other bulb and it was bulging.. I really think that it might be an issue with the compact H7 design. I think maybe the colored coatings trap too much light in causing the glass to get ridiculously hot.. then if the glass has any imperfections, BAM.

No one seems to be able to get even Sylvania Silverstars (that have a really light coating) to last very long.

If you want my opinion, get the Osram Silverstars or some other NON-US high output bulb (stock wattage though). The Osram Silverstars don't have the dumb blue coating on them (the Sylvania silverstars do).

I think www.powerbulbs.co.uk is where I bought osrams from back in the day.

If you aren't satisfied with the osrams, then you can upgrade your headlight wiring harness (there are some basically plug and play kits for doing so, just search online for "heavy duty h7 headlight wiring" or something along those lines) and get some Osram 65 watt bulbs, or upgrade to HIDs and risk having an HID bulb that doesn't generate light in the same position in the headlight housing which would cause glare and a poorly focused beam pattern.

luminics have been known to melt. i run MTECs and havent had a problem at all. i love em. have the cosmos blue and yellow fogs

i've had the mtec blue cap bulbs and it burnt the wiring connectors after a few months. so after i changed to the hd connector it burnt that too. this w/ stock wattage. also one of the bulbs started to get loose from the frame so i contacted the dealer, said to mail bulb and original box to taiwan or hong kong i kinda forgot which one, for xchange. was supposed to be free but shipping was a lot and i never saw the bulb again. so i got 3 mtec bulbs sitting on the side with osrams silverstars in the car. to recap, mtecs looks great, last long but good chance your connectors won't, even if bulbs go out don't expect them to honor out of country warranty. ps osrams last long and my connectors too.

One of my Luminics pooped out on me. I don't think were in there for a year. I loved how they looked (titanium whites), but they were awfully expensive and a ridiculously long wait for them.

I'm getting everything ready for NOPI. Wash / wax / detail / wax my matching helmet / re do my mod list with current mods / dig out the original Protege 5 dealer pamplets and so on.

Go HID!

But to actually answer your question, Luminics are dangerous to drive with. You can't see crap with them. This is why they say "off road or show only" on the package. The whole 130W thing is BS.

The same is true of all colored bulbs--reduced light output...
