What have you done to your P5 today?

maybe catastrophic throwout bearing failure? Usually they squeak for a long time before they finally give out...

werd my throwout bearing was a bit worn at 78500 miles when I removed it to install my new clutch. My stock clutch at 78.5K miles was really friggin mint though :D you can't tell I learned how to drive stick on it at all!

saw this a few days ago in Cesena...I miss my p5...EDM ftw though

The infamous 'loose screw'. Sux you are a day behind but at least it is with no money out of pocket!

one of my friends said there was a recal b/c of the screw being under-torqued in so many 2003 p5s, but i didnt know it. :( o well, better than the clutch or tranny itself. but yea i am really relieved that i dont have to drop 500 on it. they didnt say nething about the intake or nething either, other than one guy on the phone saying he liked what i did w/ it.

Dude, make SURE they check the motor. That screw could have caused a lot more trouble that replacing / fixing the manifold won't fix. Dings / scratches / gouges in the motor.

I will go ahead and say ditto to amaff on this one. The ol loose screws on the intake manifold have hit more than a few here on the forum. You are one of the lucky ones that is covered by warranty/recall. Mine fell into neither of those 2 categories and Mazda wouldn't cover anything for me. Anyway, it's not really too much of a problem as long as they check out the cylinder/s with a borescope and make sure it didn't score the cyl walls too badly. Did yours not run like total dogs*** when you heard all the noise ? I don't recall what you posted.....Mine was a total mess when it first went. ........

yay I got my package from onlinemazdaparts.com.. 8 quarts of Redline synthetic oil (10w30), Mazda6 wagon rear wiper conversion, and CX-7 antenna (my fifth antenna :D :D :D :D :D ).

I've gotta go run to campus for a few though so I'll only have time to slap on the cx-7 antenna and my summer shift knob

Blow Off Valve

Does Anyone know where i can Find a Greddy Type S Blow off Valve?? or does anyone want to get rid of theirs?? i know greddy discontinued the blow off valve and i havent been able to find one if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it thank you.

Well seeing as this is the Protege5 subforum most people here aren't turboed..

Pretty much since it's discontinued you'll have to use ebay and home what you are buying is actually the type S and not the RS.

when i called earlier they were taking the valve cover off and they said that tomorrow once the part gets here they will install it and put the motor back together, so it sounds like they checked that as well.

I would still ask them. No since in 'trusting' that they did indeed look. Sorry, no disrespect to any mechanics here, I do take my cars to one, but I have been burned before by a dealer's service dept.

Today, I installed some better low-beam headlight bulbs (Thx to Freeridin' Al), cleaned the engine bay, changed the front wipers, and used Goo-Gone on the rear windshield in an effort to remove some adhesive.
