What have you done to your P5 today?

I have a feeling heat shields are important for some reason.... eh but its cold outside so some extra exhaust heat could be nice haha

actually most heatshields are worthless.. well on the protege lol they actually don't do anything.. cuz no wires or lines or anything that wud need to be protege from the heat isn't even close enough to get hot soo there pretty worthless.. only thing their good for is letting us not its hot dont touch lmao but that shud b common sense

Ordered my new gas tank insulator today (that big piece of metal that fell off my car this weekend). It seems everyone I talk to about it says that it's not a big deal and I shouldn't have even bothered buying a new one. If it protects the gas tank, I figure it must be important...

Got all the pieces and made the cuts to install the intercooler. Next on the list is a 2.5" (with a civic high flow cat) custom exhaust. Well see how that goes.

Well, this morning I received my Whiteline Universal endlink kit, took the old ones off, which measured 160mm from balljoint to balljoint, & seeing as the swaybar wasnt straight (recommended supposedly) I cut the new ones down to 140mm from joint to joint.

For a start it got rid of my clunk (yay!! :D:D) as I have come to the conclusion the bottom balljoint was slapping up against the trailbars, so with cutting them 20mm shorter, I now have a straighter swaybar & 20mm more room :D Turn in is a lot more precise as well, so a win on all levels :D

upgrade ya struts and endlinks. Or wait and then your struts will be blown as well as endlinks (because of drop springs and I get a hint you drive it hard)... so IMO do it before it happens (^;
I went with Tokico struts hp series (slight performance upgrade) and the AWR rear sway bar and endlinks... car rides amazing now. If you got the cash ive heard people rave about some yellow coil-overs for sale now at protege garage (i think)

Dont really want to upgrade the strut/spring setup right now, will probably upgrade to tokico blues/racing beat springs later on

That is a good combination. The front sway bar is a total PITA to replace. Another good combo for more neutral feel is the stock P5 front, and the MSP Racing Beat in the rear. I am currently running the P5 front and AWR 21.5mm in the rear and she likes to get sideways very easily.

If I do the stock front and progress rear 22mm will I get oversteer?

I have the stock front sway and Progress 22mm rear sway (on Tokico Blues and Tein S-Techs) and I don't get oversteer. If anything it makes the car more neutral in the corners. In a FWD you're always more prone to get understeer. On my only track day so far at Mid-Ohio I was still getting understeer and not oversteer.

However the first time I had the car in the snow i could get a bit of oversteer. ;)

Throw a rear strut brace in and its a whole different kettle of fish :D

You're just not driving it right man! Hahaha.

Of course, my 21.5mm was set at the stiffest possible setting. I had a few fun instances of slideways action on highway on / off ramps.

Sounds like you were driving it wrong. Sideways on off/on ramps = not good. ;)

ps- yeah, I've got a rear strut brace (an eBay cheapo at the time, a Corksport now). I didn't really notice a difference but some people say they notice it a lot.

I'm pretty happy with my suspension set up right now and don't really feel the need to change anything. I could've bought Fish's coilovers for a great price but I'm perfectly content with my spring/strut combo. My car doesn't oversteer and has a little bit of understeer with too much throttle in the corners. But that will happen with every FWD car. My driver mod hasn't shipped yet until I can get more track time in the spring. ;)

Simon, that mirror looks badass and is probably really great for daily driving and especially the track. I gotta pick one up. Where did you get it/what brand? And the headliner looks really good, much better than the old tiger print. heh-heh

All it takes is a little bit of lift in a turn, and too stiff will bring the rear end around. Just ask Pablo...

heh. In all honesty, my car tri-podded more than anything, but one of my favorite memories was running around in Atlantic City with Rob and Chris when they had their P5's. Chris with S-techs on blues and an MSP rear bar, me on stockers and AWR 21.5mm rear bar, and rob on MSP suspension with the Progress 22mm rear. All three of us went sideways getting on to the one on ramp thru an intersection. Was pretty neat.
