What have you done to your P5 today?

I had the black alteezas for a few years (bought from another member) and to be honest had the great deal on the JDM's not come along I'd still have them.

IMO they look better using chrome turn signal bulbs and bluebatmobile smoked overlays. :)

played out like as in a lot of people have them. Because tehy look nice, they have nice size and if i know well, they are pretty cheap compared to work, volk, bbs, ccw....

Gotcha. I don't think they're played out. And I'm not just saying that because I have a set, but I think there's a reason a lot of people have them, for the exact reasons you stated. Like TE-37's. A lot of people have them because they are gorgeous, lightweight, strong and suitable for racing. (drinks)

Just missed the Fedex guy by 2 minutes. I watched him driving the other way on the road as I was coming home for lunch. Damn it. Now I have to wait until next Saturday to go pick up my corksport radiator and stuff. Sigh.

If you know what sorting facility it will go back to, you can go pick it up. I did this with my new PC after realizing the dumbass driver went to the wrong house... drove and picked it up myself so there wouldn't be anymore confusion.

got the gauge ring clone samples from FORZWIN to try and figure out the correct ring size needed for a protege5 cluster.

also took out the gauges themselves with hopes to sand off the orange ink from the back so i could put in some blue LEDs but saw that the printing on the back of the gauge is uneven based on where the bulb is behind it. So if the bulb is right behind one section, the orange as a white layer above it. If I sanded it all off the lighting would be really uneven unless I got some LED strips to put in

well they still wont look good through the orange screen printed ink thats on the back of the gauges. And to do a good job sanding all that off I need to pull off all the needles and have heard off to many people breaking them to risk doing that.

thanks for the offer though!

The Ebay tails are rice to the max, JDM tails or stockers with red overlays are the way to go.

that's what i was thinking, but anyway, got something from protege garage that they couldn't send the familia badge, so i think im just gonna pull off the stock ones and paint them black while the car is in the shop and have them put those back on for me

new rear brakes are on :) stupid allen key gear! It's all stripped so I had to get a friend to help me out. Thankfully those are all good now, fronts will get done in a couple weeks at the same time as the timing belt and waterpump..

at least you knew about the allen key, i was bangin on the rear brake for an hour trying to get it out, then i came on here and people told me about it lol i felt like an idiot

but today i sanded down one of my pipes to the metal that was rusting and sprayed self etch primer and rubberized undercoating on it, all good now
Man i need some new IC pipes, these MAM ones have some weird coating on them that is starting to flake off

Been there, done that! How did you end up getting the piston retracted?

Welded my o2 bung for the wideband and wrapped the header.
Waiting for the wrap to dry so tomorrow I'll put the silicone seal.

Trying to get the supercharger in sometime next week.

=)

feel like I cheated on the p5 yesterday. When I was picking up my mazda flag at the dealership I test drove a 2010 speed3 :D

Took it to a friend (kz9), basically he kept turning the gear while pushing the caliper in with a piston windback tool.

Got it pushed back enough to get the pads to fit over the rotor and put it together. He was worried that it might not be able to be adjusted, but thankfully it could be adjusted and it's all good now. I don't even want to bother with the front, even if it doesn't have the little gear.

I did some gauges several years back on my other car and the only pain in the ass in removing the needles is that it is so hard to get them in the correct position when you put them back, or at least it was on that car. Most people say you can use a fork to pry them up, but I can't remember what I used.

Ordered a Megan Racing short shifter yesterday. Just wasn't interested in dropping $150 on a shifter. I've heard these are compared to the B&M. Guess we'll see next week. I know I'm going with a Skunk2 billet knob. My wifes friend has a $4000 embroidery machine so I'm trying to come up with a design for a subtle, yet one of a kind boot.

Ugh.

Had a rock hit the WS right on the DS corner and it cracked halfway across.(attn)

Sonofa-----.

Yeah, insurance will cover it but it still sucks.

spent the last few days designing and building a stereo for the hatch of the car to get as much of the gear as possible hidden under a false floor, including the 2 amps, 2 subs, eq, ans distro for the wiring..

I went with what i was used to from before so i have the MTX RFL1200D, and MTX RFL404 for my amps. Subs are JL 8W7, i have 3 but can only get 2 to fit and still be hidden under the new floor, and for sound processor i got a sweet deal on a new JBL MS-8 so i'm going to give it a try. already have a 3way speaker system up front and a set of components for rear fill. Hopefully i can have it all in before the end of the weekend.

Your car is very clean btw.. looks great. :)

Thank you very much. That means a lot. (nana)

I'm half way through my To-Do list for my P5 today. I got my AWR rear motor mount installed. What a pain that is when you don't have a buddy helping you out. But my stocker wasn't ripped and still looked pretty good, even after 124k miles. Go figure. Now I gotta put everything back together, including the intake mani and those 12mm bolts on the end are always a pain.

My friend dropped off some header wrap and a much nicer catch can for me so I'll probably install those today too. But so far it's going pretty smoothly today.
