What have you done to your MSP today?

Everything is staged and ready to go for the R&I of the engine that I plan to do Sunday. I'll get the engine out tomorrow night, then disassemble and reassemble Sunday and reinstall. I can't wait to have it back on the road!!!

My MSP has been hesitating more than normal in this colder weather. I think it's time to change to the winter tune.

I picked up some 440s... Anything I should be aware of with tuning?

Got under there today and swapped my transmission outdrive seals and rebuild the driver side cv joint with a new boot and parts kit. i bought new clips for the axles where they go into the trans and the hub carrier but gawd damn how are you suppose to get those axles in there without screwing somthing up with the clips? i had to leave the clips out, which i had no leakage from the driver side but the seal on that side wasnt messed. I get why the clips are there but i had to get creative with a hammer and wood to get the thing to go into the dif WITHOUT the clips... just could not get it to happen with them in place.. afraid to mess up the new cv boot in the process.

the good news is my leak wasnt as bad as i had imagined.. still have 2litres of oil left in it, so i can take two of the three i picked up back.

this summer, ill buy an mfactory, get new outdrive bearings pressed on and replace all the bearings in the trans.. should be good and sturdy for a few years after that... cannot imagine how much this would have cost to have a shop do it. id say over $1500 in just labor...

Yeah, the tranny is a bit on the annoying side. I did a MSP LSD install and tranny overhaul 2 years ago... All I paid for was a shop to mess with the gears inside and compress bearings in where I could not. Don't pay the shop if you've got the tie and the patience.

now that ive done the tranny strip down, it was actually very easy to but it all back together. monkeying it into the car by myself was another story lol..

when i get the new dif, ill drop it at mazda and get to work pulling it all out again. i have the manifold and downpipe to pay for from pope first.

Does anyone have a diagram for the wiring on the coils? The pins popped out of the plug yesterday, and I don't know the correct order.

i had to leave the clips out
Why would you do that? That'll be a b**** and a half when that motherfucker comes out of the transmission on the side of the road and trust me, I've seen it happen multiple times when people have done the exact same thing. My drivers side is always a son of a b**** to get in and out. Sometimes more than others. Passenger comes out no problem.

From top to bottom, with clip facing you they are as follows: Top, RED; Center, Black/Brown; Bottom, Black/Gray(blue or green, can't tell due to time.)

Just posted up my GT spec parts. Sad to see them go, but I need the money :(

How do you get them in without ******* the seals, the boot or the splines? Wih the clip on i couldnt even get it to take the splines and without, i still had hit the booted cv cup with a hammer and block to seat it in the trans. Havin just changed the boot i didnt wanna **** it up again cause thats exactly how i messed it up a few weeks ago. I still have the clips. If there is a way to do it im all ears.

Edit: actually next time ill pull the half shaft and hub all out as one peice. I put the half shaft back on which went just fine but trying to get the cv attached to that was a b**** cause no easy way to persuade it in.

I lined up the axle best I could, then used a wood block and dead blow on the cup closest the trans .... hit it a few times, rotate, hit a few times, rotate ... repeat. Eventually it slammed home.

Doing that having it bounce off the splines makes me afraid to **** the splines lol. Or the boot. I had actually considered reassembling the damn joint with the cup in the trans. Then i could have hammered the snot out of it to get it in without ******* any rubber bits. Well ill keep an eye on it.
Since ive never pulled the passenger side hub that turned into a much bigger job than i had expected. Maybe two hours to change the seals? **** no. That dirty rusty b**** took two hours to take apart lol.

Just picked up a second MSP with 60K kilometers!! Has a few mods and needs a new front air dam, but otherwise in mint condition! Might have some parts for sale soon :)
