hey guys, I got a quote to rebuild my engine, with overboring it .020 and all the machine work and everything and assembly and taking the engine out at $4,500 and not anymore than that.. but that is with me supplying every single piece.. what do you guys think? it seems a little high to me since some of the quotes around here are that much but with the rods and pistons included... but should I shop around more or what? they said they are booked for the next 2 weeks but can get everything set up in a day or so when I drop it off, and than get it all together in 2 weeks.. and my custom pistons won't be here until the end of next week anyways.. so that might work out.. but the money is a lot.. was thinking about SpeedCircuit in NJ if I take the trip down there.. but what do you guys think?

that is alot but they are also installing everything. Machine work shouldn't be more then 500 bucks so you are really paying 4000 for the removal, assembly, and re installation. They must have some high labor rates to be charging that much.

Wow, that is high to me as I paid $4,300 and it included parts and labor including the .20 overbore and head work. I know that the cost of living in CT is higher than OH but damn...good luck on finding a lower price

A mucho better deal can be had with Speedcircuit and Dana knows this motor... I had mine shipped with a stage 1 head for like $300ish if I remember right! Just bolted on my valve cover and awr pan 
Got it stuck in the mud on my front lawn after pulling on to the grass quickly to go get something I forgot. All of the rain has turned my yard into a swamp buggy event. Had to be tow hooked off back on to the street.And yes that price of $4,500 is flat out ridiculous considering you are supplying everything. The ACV of the car might not even be that high at this point. So yes shop around and tell that shop to find another sucker.
