What have you done to your MSP today?

What's the difference between MSP GT25 and Silvia's GT25 ???

the silvia gt25 is a journal bearing turbo, so its rebuildable. i paid $50 for the turbo, $100 on the rebuild kit, and rebuilt it myself. so it was cheaper for me. also the exhaust housing is smaller, so quicker spool time on an already quick spooling turbo. and it makes out at 17.5 psi unlike the msp one which is lower.

something i added while i was in there....

well, i didnt do these things to my car lol but i took pix of it. i got bored. i know the msp came with its quirks but these make me wonder. this is the third 3rd gen so far and the previous ones didn't have these weird quirks. afaik, carfax was clean, no accidents, no repaints. you think my msp was built on a friday? :D just wanted to share. i should prolly do something about the trunk jam pretty soon

anyone else have probs with their trunk jams?

I haven't had those problems. Just cause it's not on carfax doesn't mean it hasn't been in a wreck or resprayed.

+1 3 years after i purchased my MSP it shows up as having been in 3 wrecks and NONE showed up when I purcahsed it on carfax. Car Fax is just a tool. DO NOT Put all your trust into it.

So the Silva T25 isn't an upgrade, but it has more potential? Is it louder than the msp turbo?

I wouldn't say it has more potential. Think about it. A T28 can push 12 psi and make more power than a T25 at 12 psi. If anything I would bet it is quieter than the stock turbo.

edit: not saying the T28 maxes out at 12, because we know that's not even close.

Hi,
I just bought a 2003 mazdaspeed protege with 60k miles on it, about three weeks ago. It is all stock other than the susdpention, i was wondering where i would basicly start to improve proformance and get the best bang for my buck as well. On a tight budget.... would the first step be getting an intercooler kit with piping..? i have found one on ebay for $160 with 2.5 piping... is that worth me getting? Is there anyone who could help me out on this one?

I wouldn't worry about those small blemishes, aside from the trunk jam. That looks pretty bad so I would fix it asap.

yeah dont really care bout the issues except the trunk jams, but thought i'd show all of the weird things :D

yeah it is red, so thats all stock then, not to bad. So where would i start, for performance... some extra HP, and i have been reading all those other postings about the spark plugs as well and it seems like some ppl are saying one kind, others are saying def do not use those and use this other one alos... So i got confused on that as well lol

for an intercooler, see the link in my sig. For spark plugs, use NGK ZFR6F, and make sure to gap properly. Other than that, search... you'll fine LOTS of info.... start here:

I can not get this b**** out. I need help.

the extractor is harder than almost any drill bit that you are going to find. What style of extractor is it? the reverse threaded one or tapered tap in one? you might be able to spot weld some metal on it to be able to spin it out, or tap it with a small chisel and thread it out, or if you have room drill beside it to remove it and re thread the hole after. I have removed a broken one before in a transfer case with a carbide bit in a dremel, took an hour or so and had to helicoil it after but it worked.
