What have you done to your MSP today?

3+ hours for a quick exterior wash & wax using Turtlewax Ice products. Used 303 protectant to dress the new tires and inside the wheel wells. Turned out okay...

Looks fantastic!! Next time you do it, take the extra 30 mins and do a clay-bar as well, really makes the wax go on smooth and makes the color POP!

Looking at your engine, it looks pretty clean, but try these things out. The first is a degreaser, which you spray on a warm (but not hot) engine and hose off. Either dry it using an air compressor, or go for a short drive to get it dry. Then use the second product to get it nice and shiny. Its safe for all parts (keep it away from the exterior, though) and makes it easier to clean up later down the road.

Kinda leery about trying to clay myself. I'm worried about screwing my paint.

Tried a neat technique today that a friend recommended. After I was done washing the ride I used a shop vac to blow the water off and out of the wheels & wells before the water could dry & water spot the rims; the vac also blew the water from under the badges, door handles, gas filler door, all light housings, and the grills in the front. I was impressed with the simplicity of the process..

Well I spent the entire day once again fooling with the FMIC and didn't even touch the fans and ABS light issue. Though I have to say the intercooler is sitting a lot better than it was before, but I really need some new couplers and clamps. Oh, and I really want to get rid of this BPV piece of s*** that doesn't fit too well with the new pipes.

Actually, the clay bar is one of the most misunderstood, yet beneficial items you can use before putting on new wax. Follow these steps and you'll experience WIN like no other:

  1. Wash your car
  2. Dry your car
  3. Take claybar in hand, break some off about the size of a golf ball and flatten
  4. Spray small section of car with detailer
  5. Gently run the clay over the area you sprayed (no need to add any pressure)
  6. Fold the claybar over and flatten again
  7. Repeat steps 4-7 until your whole car has been covered

Then wax like normal and get ready to go blind from the shine.

Honestly, unless you leave the clay on your car and let it dry there, there's no way it'll mess up your paint. I've done it on my last three wax jobs and the results speak for themselves:

Clay bar is great, mothers sells a kit with two clay bars and the detailer spray. i really need to clay bar this summer have not done it in a year and a half

Being in AZ a claybar is a must, all the sand and dirt there leave a fine film on the paint, you will be amazed what the claybar picks up AFTER you think the car is clean
 
Myself and OEM PLUS drove down to Road Atlanta this weekend with some friends. Went to watch the Porsche Club of America races, was a blast!

The clay bar is the trick. I have tried the liquid clay bar, I had decent results but nothing as good as the old fashion bar. It removes tar and other road crap that would be hard to just scrub off with soap.
 
its also the only thing I've found to get shoe scuffs off my side skirts, and was also a very gentile way of removing the adhesive from the dealer sticker on the trunk. (yes, there are faster ways, but it worked well)
 
got my car back from the shop friday night, no cf hood, now i can't get my stock hood to open so it's back the the shop.
 
I was told these were discontinued, did you just buy these?

Purchased sometime in late December / early January when they were on sale because I had a feeling they would be gone soon. I do not know for sure if they are or not.
