What have you done to your MSP today?

If replacing the coils doesn't work, check the EGR valve too, from what I've heard that hurts idle more than anything. I do recall my idle getting better once I replaced mine. Not a bad thing to do anyways for a "spring tune-up."

EGR was recently cleaned. and that helped imensly. whats bugging me is this has gotten worse since I switched over my intake.

Check all fittings downstream of the MAF as well. If air is leaking out downstream of the MAF, you'll have beaucoup problems with idle/misfire etc. My money's on the coils/wires/plugs though

all the couplers have been checked. boost is steady and vac is normal. when I had ignition issues idle was pretty stable, but under load was when everything went to hell. I'm hoping the ECU is just still figuring itself out from my battery terminal problem.

so, over the last week my idle has gotten progressively worse. discovered yesterday that it will NOT idle with the AC on, and about half the time idle drops to near nothing and then it revs itself up to about 1100, and repeats this...

anybody know offhand which way the mesh on the MAF is supposed to be? this is the only thing I can think of that might be screwing with my idle, once it gets off idle it runs like a champ, no cels, nothing. I'm still on my snows, but I barked 3rd gear on an onramp yesterday.

i've had this problem too, but it's been a while since my car has done it. I think i just changed what company i bought my gas from and changed the plugs and did a bottle of fuel system cleaner

lol i see you. preachin bout them coilpacks now :D hope you get it figured out wagonbacker.. that issue can be really annoying

Hey man, I never doubted you for an instant. Easiest fix that no one wants to believe... When you putting the MP3 wing on your car? I want to see a Titanium Grey Metallic MP3!!!

HAHA, yeah, having to rev at lights all the time makes me feel like an asshat.

i just threw up in my mouth a lil bit.

I did consider buying the black wing for $140 in the FS section to take a look at how that would be though... LOL

sounds like you have a vac leak, a pretty big one
you said you cleaned your EGR valve recently, check the bolts on it to make sure there tight, thats where my vac leak and bad idle was coming from

if you have a SSAFC, you can just go in and add fuel at idle and it'll make it sound like you have cams lol i did it so i didnt have to rev all the time

as I said, my vac reading is perfectly normal.

lol i know u werent doubting me. you were just goin down ur list of other possibilities. mmm.... wing.. maybe another year. enjoying the wingless

quoted to show that wagon even thought about a wing

hahahaha

looking at tirerack... BFG T/A KDWs are going for 79 each on closeout

Direzza DZ101s are 81 each with a $50 rebate on 4...

this is for 225/50/16 btw, but I'd imagine more common sizes for you guys here are similar.

KDWs are not only played out, but not that good compared to some of the other tires out there. If I were in the market, my short list would be:

Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07
Kumho Ecsta XS <<< What I have now, love them!

these are the originals, not the revised strange tread version. played out or not is irrelivant (love your highly technical explaination of why you disagree with the choice), they're a good tire.
edit: I just read this again. did you say a tire is played out? who gives a s***? its a great quality tire, with good performance characteristics, and considering how stickey it is, a damn good treadlife rating. all 3 tires you listed have a tread life rating of 180-200 and are a completely different performance category than what I am looking for, mostly because I want them to last at least a couple of years.

played out? ugh. you make my head hurt.

so im having an issue. this morning while drivinig to work my boost gauge was being sporatic. if i get up to speed and let off the gas completly, it goes down to about 9inHg and stays there. now while cruising, it will be about 4 or 5 inHg and radomly drop down to 24 or 25 inHg the go back to 4 inHg and hold. now under exc i noticed it spike to about 10 psi. but most of the time it hols at about 6.5-7 psi. so i know its spikeing but i dont know why its dropping while cruising. at idle it bounces from aroung 18- 22inHg.

any help? im supposed to dyno tomorrow night so i wanna fix it. btw it has a new wga that i put on abt the most 35k miles ago

anybody?

I don't think i got the star specs but my dunlops are great

IAC valve might be freaking out? is the car doing strange things when the reading changes, or might this just be a bad readout on the gauge?

Okay, here's my problem with them - I buy a summer tire to get the most out of it. The KDWs, especially the old ones were 'okay' in the dry and 'okay' in the wet. Personally, having driven on them, I found them excessively loud and didn't like the feel on the car I was driving ('05 STi). I've always had performance tires on my Protege(s) and can get them to last 2-3 years since I switch them for winters. Played out? Yeah. Everyone gets them so the MUST be good, right? I've read enough reviews and have actually driven on them to know how they feel to ME. I prefer my MX's because of their dry-weather performance (superb). I don't push the car in the wet anyways, and they are fine at NORMAL speeds.

Better explanation for your fanboi ass?

(and to think we were doing so well this week...)
