What have you done to your MSP today?

I dont need one...lol

but either way, no one has to have a reason to mod their car, people just like to do it...doesnt mean they race, doesnt mean they're dumb if they dont race...

I'm not understanding your logic here that you have to have a reason to mod a car....

Oh so you don't need one, eh? I'll remember that. (evil)

Actually, people in FL need a better one. Ya'll know what it's like to drive the MSP on a frickin' hot summer day. Ugh!

ok....why do you need a front mount interccooler to daily driver and enjoy an msp that you wont race? the stock plastic piping and side mount will do just fine

The engine with run more effiecient with a cooler charge, it looks good, better gas mileage, less strain on the engine, you can run a bigger radiator in some cases for improved engine cooling

LOL! I dont need a front mount...but an upgraded side mount would be nice :p hehehe

and good point on that also...the stock SMIC sucks bawls for stock applications and driving.

Personally, I somewhat agree with the "why mod if you don't race" theory. However, I do also understand doing things just purely based on looks. Shadow also makes a very valid point about upgrading to a FMIC.

My thing is, the only REAL mod you'd honestly need to make for our car (that I can recall) to ensure it runs for a longer, more stable period of time is the welded or aftermarket LSD.

^wheres dub on this one?

j/k

i drive a protege and know it wont be fast so i dont mod! for some it can be a hobby though. we all spend money on "silly things".

but if anything does break... it will be upgraded if there is one. all of my "mods" have been for function. i do think a fmic is for function in the msp though. that and some people drive like they are in a race all the time. and really... there is nothing wrong with for looks. being functional helps, but not everyone wants to abuse their daily driver with racing.

i wonder if djdub is still mad, i kinda went hard on him earlier about his lx. but i didnt know saying i raced someone would cause a huge ruckus lol...my bad.

but whats next for my msp is some royal purple and the oil pressure gauge install...been puttin it off for too long.

AAMCO called and are going to have to pull the trans to figure out whats wrong with it... Waiting on warrenty company now. I don't like not having my car... 8(

Nothing today other then drive by the shop and saw it up in the air... still waiting to gear back about the warrenty coverage.... Not having my car wants to make me (drunk) and not being sure if they are going to cover it or not.

Haha, you know I almost said something about having a FMIC but I changed my mind. lol.

The way I see it, why boost a protege this isn't boosted? You're just making a really slow car, a little less slower. When I want a fast car bad enough to boost mine, I'll go and get something faster with more potential. I'd rather spend the money else where, obviously. ha. Since I don't race, legally or illegally, no point in spending 1k+ in a turbo kit naw what I mean? My thing is nice drop w/ nice wheels, thats whats most important to me on my car.

Oh, and I'm not saying boosting an na protege is dumb, I just wouldn't do it. I would go get an msp or like I said, something faster.

You ain't the first to say what you did, nor the last. I'm pretty use to it so it doesn't phase me.

yeah... racing not on the track is not so good around here.

and dubs car is freakin nice!

Thanks brother :D

just keep her wingless and i will always be on your side :D

and if my p5 was a manual... i would consider boost. it is paid off, and fun to drive.

that and i like hatches... sedans are so... for your grandma...

oh crap what thread am i in?

i do think a fmic is for function in the msp though.

I completely disagree. I think MOST FMIC's are overkill for the MSP's stock potential. Unless you're going after a huge build, a FMIC is probably overkill. a SMIC upgrade is fine. One way or another, you gotta ditch the stocker though. That said I put in a smaller FMIC core and couldn't be happier.

Aren't the perrin & turbolife FMICs best even for stock apps cause of how the piping is ran so short but any other FMIC does more damage than good cause of the extra piping?

it helps but the volume of the tubing isn't really that huge, I'm running the traditional piping route and no noticeable extra lag but those cores are pretty much huge too. personally I'd want a turbolife with a core about 3" shorter... that fit under the crash bar instead of replacing it.

yeah, my #1 requirement was to keep the crash bar... I had a turbolife cold pipe I was going to use, but I couldn't get the ac dryer out of the way without losing the crash bar, which is why I went with the standard CAI hole routing.
