Depends if your talking surface rust or the actual face is rusted off. Many times northern cars actually have the faces of the rotors rust completely off whereas southern cars tend toget just a surface rust that can me sanded off.

my dad just got some rotors turned that were on my old spicy (RIP) that he might use on my brothers new msp becuase his car had been sitting around for 2 years.. but he charged ~$!115 I think it was, or a little more, to machine them all, but 1 was cracked so he replaced 1..and this is without any brakes or anything, just taking the rotors themselves in..
as far as why he would do that, maybe they started to warp a little or are just uneven depending on your driving style..?
I called and he said the fronts were warped. I know what did it to, i was doing 65 on the highway when all of a sudden some dumb b**** cut in front of me and slowed immediately. I had to slam on my brakes and left a nice set of skids on the road. I heated the rotors and warped them.

ya when I use to screw around with my crown Victoria (my first car, and I REALLY beat on that car lol, a lot of fun) I use to do donuts and burn outs and stuff, and in general slow down quickly and speed up, and I actually mine didn't warp until I did stuff like coming off the highway exits fast and slowing down quickly sometimes..I called and he said the fronts were warped. Absolutly its easy to spot the difference mostly at the edges of the friction area

ok cool, I will get a pic of them when I get home today, I think the wheels are still on the car, at least the back ones, but I know at least one of the wheels are off, and maybe the both fronts, (the car is on stands while they are replacing the engine, just sitting there now because we had to get the Spec clutch resurfaced/rebuilt
well, I looked at it and figured out a MUCH easier way to make my 3" down pipe... I was trying to mock it off of the stock pipe... svrew that... 2 90 degree turns... hopefully I'll be ready to build a quick mock up of it tonight at work and test fit it...

There are different schools of thought on this... I will sacrifice a bit of pad life to save myself from warping rotors. brake pulse pisses me off. Turning the rotor makes it more likely to warp. So, I skip that process and just replace it with every other set of pads... works for me, if you think I'm braking cardinal laws, don't follow my example, I won't be hurt, I promise! lolYou should always machine your rotors when new pads are installed. Also most rotors have a minimum width spec stamped on them that they can be machined down to.

Just out of curiousity, what is "seafoaming?" I understand there's a shitload of smoke coming out of the exhaust but is that a good thing, is it a treatment you apply and it smokes? Just curious.

exactly. you can either put it into a vac port, or just add to gas tank.... some people swear the stuff is a miracle... personally, idk.. it didn't do s*** for my intrepid, but that thing had 3 wheels in the junkyard as it was.Just out of curiousity, what is "seafoaming?" ya, it's some chemical, (I believe I read that it was petroleum based or something) but it basically just cleans your internals, I sucked it in through the PVC hose going to the IM, which cleans all the carbon and crap that gets stuck to the walls of the cylinders and where ever it flows from there) and I put some in the crank case, cleans that area (I was due for an oil change anyways so I put it in there.. because when it takes all the crap off the walls, it is then left in your oil, so it is good to change it after) and then I put some in the fuel tank, which cleans the fuel lines and injectors and stuff... pretty good stuff, and the more smoke you have, the dirtier your engine typically, the first time when I was sucking it in through the PVC lines going to the IM, there was a crazy amount of smokey lol, even in the engine bay which I am still wondering if that is typically suppose to happen a little.. but anyways there would be more smoke if I didn't have the cat, but now the inside of my exhaust is coated black lol, should clear out after some driving for a white
I think it is a good thing to do every other or so oil change, do it before like a couple days (2-3 sounds good) and some people change it with crappy oil after so they really get all the carbon deposits and stuff out, then they use the good stuff like royal purple or other popular brands...there's a bunch of threads on this when I was looking it up, and general videos on youtube, funny stuff to look at lol
after everything I would say the idle is a little better, can tell slightly that it feels cleaner, personally I get a similar feeling after changing the oil.. so not a lot but I think it's a good thing to do anyways, cleaner is better
