I learned a $170 lesson to look under the hood weekly and re-tighten screws and clamps and such... after losing brake pressure and experiencing irradic idle and vac loss coming off the turnpike, and further having car towed to mazda and renting a car, i learned that the fitting that plugs up an unused outlet in my vac block worked its way out. Boy do i feel like a smacked ass.

LOL, I had the same happen the other day! Fortunately I called my buddy and when I said I lost my power brakes he said check the booster line and I went straight to the vac block. I didn't see it before I called him cause it was the lower line that went and it was hidden by my WBO2 controller. It scared the s*** outta me when the brakes went and I had to stand up on teh pedal to get it to stop. then it idled like crap and the compressor surge was insane since I had no BOV operating.

would rough idle be caused by a dirty air filter? if that is a stupid question im sorry but my mechanic friend checked the car for me and he didnt see anything that would cause the rough idle or the bucking

Depends on how dirty the filter is. Sometimes I go too long without cleaning my air filter and I swaer the car drives better after it's been cleaned.

im just at a loss he checked wga and said its fine, ill check couplers again but a dirty filter is my last guess

quick question: On the stock bpv, the connection to the hotpipe, is that the inlet or outlet? i am getting a boostsciences rdv on friday and am just curious as to how it will be oriented in the engine bay

BOVs and BPVs release pressurized air back to the atmosphere or into the intake track. The hotpipe is pressurized so that would be the "inlet" side to the BPV whereas the side leading toward the intake would be the "outlet".

Put on my black mesh wheels that i had picked up for the 240 just to see what they would look like. Car looks pretty mean with the dark tint and black wheels, unfortunately I apparently lost my camera so I can't get pics. :(

on the rdv the downpointing nipple is the outlet and the inlet is the sidemounted one (has a rough ring stamped into it).

Stopped boosting. Still having the bucking problems and rough idle. turns out my friend didnt actually check the wga and today im starting to boost at 10psi instead of stock levels. If I plan on running stock boost levels, if i get the stock replacement will it just fail again? Is the atp a clear advantage over the stock wga?

clear advantage. It costs less, a lot less, it last longer, and yo uactually get some gain out of it.

It is? I saw the atp 7ps1 for $78, and the t25 stock replacement on protegegarage for $62. stock boost is 7psi isnt it, i thought it was but if im wrong then yes, the atp is cheaper

just got my intercooler, piping, and type s bov in the mail today. its like christmas. i cant wait, but im putting it all in on friday after school. (yippy)

The "stock replacement" from protege garage actually IS the ATP wastegate (I just ordered one myself, and it shipped from ATP in CA rather than PG in IL.

OEM is about $350, and will just break again.
