What have you done to your MSP today?

(werd) low fluid will set it off too....which means definitely check your level. If the level is withing the ok range then check your rear and front pads. If they're pretty warn then when you hit the brakes you might be emptying the resorvior to the point thats triggering the light to come on...

yeah, I'm assuming its right on the threshold, but neither of the pad sets are very low... just hoping this isn't indicating my rear calipers are f'd mostly. still finding things that indicate to me the previous owner was more of a retard than I realized...

...wondered what was causing the weird exhaust noise (loose hanger?) this morning when I backed out of the driveway....

dorks...:p

I think it's one of the exhaust hangers that might be at fault...only makes the noise over a bump (speed bumps, backing out of the driveway, etc.) - a little bit of a rattling sound. Will check it later tonight.

dont forget to check blinker fluid levels too, lol

Do you have the sway bar fix in place? Exhaust hangers are pretty hard to break off...

I don't think it's broken totally off - just maybe loose or jostled out of place? Luke put grease on the swaybar bushings a few weekends ago - maybe that's why I'm hearing the exhaust rattle noise...I'm not having to listen to the SQUEEK of the swaybar!

Okay... also check the trunk tool kit. My tire iron keeps jostling loose and rattles around something terrible. So does the rear license plate and the hood... People wonder why my car is named "Buzzy" (previous owner's 6 y/o daughter named it). MSPs rattle like no one's business!

some kid trying to sell magazines door to door said my car looks like it tried to copy an evo. and asked me if it was a mazda prototype

tell him to find a back subscription to sport compact car, and look up the MSP in it. educate himself.

lol. I have a laser blue... I get "How do you like your Subaru?"

I drove my msp today(2thumbs) considering It's been off the road since march, it felt like an accomplishment

thats not all it indicates. it came on as I was rolling to a stop twice, and went off immediately after I let up on the pedal...
I'm going to assume it has something to do with the wrong rear rotors being on my car (ES/P5 I assume)... and I'm also going to hope that the calipers aren't FUBAR. I noticed they were wrong (came on the car) about 2 weeks ago and haven't had the money to fix it just yet. Kinda tight with moving this weekend and all...

I don't know about the MSP, but in most cars it has little to do with condition of rotors or pads... it usually means you have a low, thin, or hot fluid condition; potentially caused by a bad / leaky line or master/slave cylinder.

EDIT: just read other posts and I'm a little late with this (though my long-distance diagnosis stands)

your speed sensor could be going too, is it the parking brake light and the abs light?
