What have you done to your MSP today?

Is it Duct or Duck? We dont want you to be confused, so we will explain. The first name for Duct Tape was DUCK. During World War II the U.S. Military needed a waterproof tape to keep the moisture out of ammunition cases. So, they enlisted the Johnson and Johnson Permacel Division to manufacture the tape. Because it was waterproof, everyone referred to it as duck tape (like water off a ducks back). Military personnel discovered that the tape was good for lots more than keeping out water. They used it for Jeep repair, fixing stuff on their guns, strapping equipment to their clothing... the list is endless.

After the War, the housing industry was booming and someone discovered that the tape was great for joining the heating and air conditioning duct work. So, the color was changed from army green to the silvery color we are familiar with today and people started to refer to it as duct tape*. Therefore, either name is appropriate.

(mswerd) Not sure about the other branches, but the Air Force still uses the green version. (rofl2)

My support bracket for my sri came in today. gotta figure out how it mounts

Lol sorry I was searching for something and kept getting "how do I change my battery? Which way do I turn the rachet?" crap and it wore down my patients.

Patients .... you're a doctor? ......... Oh, you mean patience. Sorry, had to for the smartass bracket comment.

Today the MSP got an oil change and new spark plugs. Nothing spectacular, but it keeps the car running. Wheel/Tire swap comes next week, so the stickies will soon be on the 14lb wheels, instead of the stock 22lb wheels.

out of curiosity, decided to rev the engine to listen for any weird noises when I got home from work. I can vaguely hear what sounds like the fins rubbing inside the turbo. NOT GOOD! Once the car cools down I'm going to check for shaft play. Anybody have any idea how long I've got before its dead? Rough guess? I've been staying out of boost as much as possible, but obviously its not going to completely stop the process.

without hearing it, no way to tell if its in fact the turbo. if it doesn't get louder as you make more boost I'd bet its something else.

yeah, I understand. I'm just going to take it easy until I get time to actually park it long enough to do a check for shaft play. I didn't run up the rpms enough to actually hit boost, so I'm not sure yet. Still a little worried about it. I don't have another vehicle yet, so I hope it lasts me long enough to get another turbo. (nervous)

well i can't remember if i posted this already or not. i've got some sad news to tell you guys and gals. it has come to my attention that i probably no longer have the lowest mileage msp. we took off my valve cover the other day when we were looking for my stalling issue. there's some strange writing on the motor. all i remember it said was "T.O." ...my friend (aka my tech) decided to be a smartass and said it stood for totally obliterated. once he stopped laughing he said that it looks like junkyard writing.

so the point of the story is, my car no longer has any perks left :'(

lowest mileage (doubtful)
no paintwork (so much for that)
no previous mods (after further inspection it's obvious there was)

everytime i look at my msp now i die a little inside knowing just how abused it has been.
