What have you done to your MSP today?

today, i was rearended by a family in a honda cr-v and when i pulled over they decided it was unnecessary to stop. non the less i caught the cr-v in a shopping center and got their info. it wasnt big damage, just a scuffed rear bumper and some paint chips. but i will take it to my insurance because he fled.

That's not cheap to repair, it seems easy but you have to add plastic filler, sand the bumper and use the right paint for plastic that is flexible so it won't continue chipping. Well at least you were lucky to have caught up to the guy, make a BIG deal out of it. If you can't find a good body shop for the estimates let me know and I'll hook you up.

I would have called the police and explained to them that the guy tried to flee.. he would have gotten a ticket for that and then you'd be assured that he wouldn't just tell his insurance company that he didn't do it :P

So I had a schedule all set out for myself, to happen within the next two weeks, even sooner if possible. Since the weather finally turned.

While my steelies are still on, I planned to have my new brake pads and rotors installed. Knowing that, I ordered my last pair of rotors (the front ones) about a week and a half ago.

After that, I planned on getting my summer tire/rim situation fixed. I'm replacing my single bent rim with a new one, and replacing my single fux0red tire (that's on a different, undamaged rim) with a new one. Knowing that this would be done later, I delayed ordering -- I ordered the replacement rim about five days ago, and the replacement tire yesterday.

The replacement rim arrived in two days.

The replacement tire arrived OVERNIGHT.

The final set of rotors -- yeah, they still aren't here. Why? Because for GOD only knows what reason, they were shipped to NEW JERSEY.

So now my whole de-winterization schedule is gonna be bumped back again. Which INFURIATES me, cause the weather is gorgeous and it's making me INSANE to still be driving on steelies with no carbon fiber when it's 65 degrees.

End rant.

just do the rotors later, taking off the wheel again doesn't take long. Did you order the tires from tirerack? Last I checked one of their major shipping facilities was in NJ.. even to Rochester I usually get tires overnight from them :)

Yep, ordered the tires from Tire Rack. I think the tire was actually 'in the vicinity' the same day, but just wasn't sent out for delivery until this morning, haha.

Reread my post.. :D

I was saying do all the other stuff and do the rotors later :)

I'm gonna put my cf hood back on today :)

I would, but I have those slim-lug-thingers .. And I've had shops damage the areas on the wheels around the lugs. I don't wanna risk anymore chips. So instead, I'll just wait and complain about it! ;)

sounds good to me. Pick up some of the mcgard brand tuner lugs, I don't think they're very espensive. Stock lugs don't fit into the holes on my summer wheels, so I just went with the normal mcgard ones.. they are just small enough that it works. Stock lugs are 21mm, the normal mcgard ones are 19mm (actually 3/4")

open question. Does anyone know if apexr1 already has a cat that I could bolt up to the catless downpipe they make, the 3in. one.? I just wanted to know without calling them and lookn for their number.

Cause I want to put on the 3in again but it needs a cat, high-flow or not it needs a cat for some backpressure.

no you don't. Turbo's don't like backpressure. In actuality the turbo creates the backpressure for the engine.

Just not the one on the dp :P

well on the msp they're both on the midpipe as you probably know. but a pre-cat is only good before the car warms up, as soon as it's warmed up just having 1 cat is enough.

finished putting on an intercooler setup...and got the reflash

then put about 40 miles on it haha

SLS Performance 2.5" midpipe with high flow cat, b&m shifter, and corksport bushings went in today. hell of an install though....

1. O2 sensor was completely stuck and fused into the stock mid-pipe. So i went out and bought a new Bosch universal. I actually had to extend wires anyways b/c the bung on the SLS mid-pipe is after the cat (by the flange of the catback), so it wasn't too bad.

2. As i was tightening the midpipe to the j-pipe, the tab snapped! luckily, my friend left another j-pipe with me, just in case something like this happened! Put the backup j-pipe on and it fits fine.

3. I had a hell of a time trying to get my corksport shifter bushings and B&M ss to fit in the shifter linkage. the fit was so tight that it was really hard to get things aligned. even now, the shifting feels tight. but my friend has the same setup and he said it will get looser as the corksport bushings wear down a little.

geez... took a good 5 hrs to get everything in with all the problems!

back to stock! boo! now I'm the only modded Protege in Rochester :P

wanna sell me the ion FMIC? it seems to fit a lot better without serious modding of the bumper than the hiboost that I have.

edit: nvm checked the for sale thread, most of the stuff (FMIC included) is already sold.

Everything is sold/traded except for the Zeitronix (holding on to it) and the Injen CAI.

I get bored with cars every two years or so. Going back to stock is a cheaper way to make the car different. I might sell it down the road. I'd like to run it in D-stock for SCCA as well since the DSP class was killing me. I'm waiting to hear what my grandmother is going to do with her '68 Mustang. If she hands it down to me or I get a chance to buy it from her, that will be my summer car, I'll sell the MSP, and I'll buy a cheap DSM or some other beater.

The Ion FMIC fit very well. I didn't notice much cutting needed at all when I uninstalled it. Speaking of modded Proteges, I haven't seen another MSP in the area in about 6 months.
