What have you done to your MSP today?

question;

just picked up a used autometer electric oil pressure gauge. it has this huge sender.. but it has one wire terminal..couldnt i just use the stock sender for a signal?

my hotpipe was holding on by a thread lol. it had been rubbing the rad fan for a few years and when i picked it up the other day, i put my finger right through the spot it had rubbed ha. as aluminum pipe simply isnt available localy, im gonna try to clock the turbo /tap new wga bracket holes to make use of the pipe it have left. heh.

I think i want to do a liquid intercooler though. when monies come available. then i only need like.. 2 pipes. of course, there is a 31x12 intercooler for sale a short drive away.. has both tanks on one side which would make things easy if i wanted to use the msp rad without hte intercooler attached. no need to cut the frame or run my hotpipe under the car again. but thats $150 he wants i could put toward the liquid intercooler. ill have to take my oil feed t fitting to the parts store and get another one to T the new gauges off of. i think i have a 1/8 npt tap though, so maybe i just make a distribution block instead... I just dont have the bspt tap you mentioned for the block.
this 100% bolt on affair is slightly less bolt on when even a simple gasket is a week plus away..

I've got a brake opinion survey.

What stock brake size setups are recommended for higher HP builds? 275-325HP Stock size meaning in not going to mazda 6 brakes or BBK.

Hawk, EBC? Recommended rotors?

Brake pads are all pretty similar, I have run Hawk and others and the Hawks tend to be noisy and put off a lot of dust but work well. Honestly brakes are brakes, even on track I don't notice much of a difference between different compounds or brands

Hawk pads centric rotors for me. Lots of stopping power. Can lock them super easy. Not much fade. Ill prob do reybestes or similar next time though. It was like $400 to do all corners lol

I've never really experienced brake fade. The one time I did was with aftermarket cross-drilled rotors and Bendix pads during a mountain run in my Integra a decade or so ago, but otherwise, I've always had good luck with OE style brake components.

The 8 is back up to 100%- Replaced the transmission, rear diff. fluid, plugs, oil and filter, but didn't get to the front pads and rotors. Manhandling a transmission by yourself, on your back, on the ground, under a car on jackstands is a b****. It's a lot easier on a lift. I still had the transmission done in 3.5 hours including setup time and having to get the torch out to get two of the rear diff. mount nuts off. Other than that, it went relatively smooth. Now that the 8 is handled, the MSP is going to get some attention. Going to get a car cover for it I believe.

I have certainly experienced brake fade, but not in this light little car.

1574 is running pretty well but I still need to swap my old Forge WGA on it to drop the boost down. It takes longer to build boost and doesn't have the same throttle response as 1345 does, I won't be fully satisfied until it runs the same.

And of course another titanium that needs a motor popped up on CL for $1500. If I could start an MSP rescue service I certainly would, really wish I could sell 1574 and pick this one up to restore and flip as well. There is a Spicy that was just posted yesterday with 27K miles! If I could sell one of mine I would definitely buy the spicy but 9k is a lot of money for a protege, I don't care how much I like them.

And another spicy with 37k miles just sold for $7K!!?! WTF

Morons on facebook were like "its overpriced, I could easily find one for $3k". Idiots.

I got half my exhaust built tonight. If I can get an hour or two in each night the car will be on the road this weekend :)

No pics yet. I'll be adding a bunch to my facebook page and website when its done though. So far its the nicest welding I've ever done. I rebuilt my TIG torch with a lot of new parts and a few upgrades and the difference is amazing!

Lol Glad someone remembers me. Right now I'm building the ms6s motor. Gonna be shooting for 550awhp...So no time for what I'd want to do do another msp if I got it. Hint:still boosted, not fs powered. If I could find one with a blown motor for super cheap I'd definitely buy another.

I did the kl turbo route a few years ago. It was a fun project, but I think I'm going to enjoy the car I'm building now more.
