What have you done to your MSP today?

These cars aren't like hondas, where dropping totally borks the alignment. If anything, a small drop enhances the passive rear steering that the VASTLY superior suspension design you guys are blessed with provides.

Stealth, the 225/45 is bigger (1.4% bigger), but it is substantially closer to stock that 225/40 (2.2% smaller)

IMO, 245/45/16 is the ideal size on these cars... but I'm biased.

looks good what suspension setup did you have and any rubbing issues? Also wasnt the rx7 wheels 16x8? no idea what the offset is right off hand on those things

245 fronts, 225 rears. Spool drop springs up front, otherwise stock, with 3mm spacers up front. Only rubbed with 4+ ppl in the car.

ive been kicking around the idea of going wider on my tires.. i want more traction and not spin as easy. Sucks you cant fit the 245 on all 4 corners

example my motegi mr8's are 16x7 42 offset 5 x114. i put 225/50-16 on and had to camber the rear a tiny bit.... i just went to lowes and bought a slightly smaller diamter bolt.. bingo 97cent camber bolts .. pushed as hard as i could and had a friend tight em down... has been like this for the last 2 years :

I'm all about function>form but atleast get some wider wheels and ditch the heavy ass racing harts before going to a bigger tire like that.

Naw, width is the 215/225. Height/Sidewall is the 40/45...... Its all a personal preference thing. I wanted a little more cushion, comfort and protection. I really didnt think anyone wouldve noticed the /50 in the rear. It fills the gap nicely without dropping and sacrificing alignment.

i agree that it would look better w/ a drop but to each their own.

nonetheless, i think everybody would agree THIS would make it look a whole lot better:

esp w/ black rims. gotta keep the darkness balanced out!

Eh they dont look that bad guys. The wheels aren't my taste but the tire size isnt that bad.. better then rubber band tires. Besides i bet the tire selection and price is better at that size.. or i would assume anyways

lol its a lot better than RH's. I like em. But EVERYONE still has them. They had to come off. It what makes my MSP mine, rather than just another Black Mica MSP....

LMFAO TRUCK TIRES?! ITS 5MM! lol lmfao And theyre not cheaper lol Michelin MXM4 160$/each. Most manufacturers use 50mm sidewalls. Unless sport models. But IDC. My car's a Daily driver for my family. I dont speed, or race. Not that 5MM more makes too much more of a difference, but logically most potholes are bigger than 1.5"(40mm). Id rather have the 2"(50mm) padding, better comfort and lower speed rating tire. Since I rarely go over 90mph. At the end of the day, TIRES PROTECT RIMS LoL You guys are nuts.... 500$ a set of rims, 100+/tire. And gambling on potholes and curbs, for "looks" (hand)

Also, Idk if you guys realized this.... OUR CARS COME WITH TOKICO SHOCKS, AND RACING BEAT SPRINGS.... AKA a Honda kids yearly savings LMFAO. I can understand improving for race, replacing worn parts, Or even getting adjustable components. But Mazdaspeed did do some things right. Theres really no need. Ill do an alignment today and post up the slips. Just to show the specifications. Entirely stock and Im pretty sure mines worn out in some areas. But itll be as close to spec as possible and ITLL STILL BE OUT.... again 160/tire, gambling on camber wear. I know camber wear is minimal unless extreme but doesnt make sense to me.

Yup, town fair tire and UTI student.... Still burn myself on hot manifolds too. Im not perfect Lol Mixed up my facts but still the basic idea. 40 is smaller than 50 lol And I've hit some deep speed bumps. There's no actual scientific explanation for smaller sidewalls.

Just picked up the car with the new DP installed. Butt dyno says there's a significant difference. We'll see how much she really makes in a few weeks. Trying to schedule the dyno tune now.

Well I've haven't been on here in a couple weeks. Been working a lot to rebuild the bottom end of my motor. I spun a connecting rod bearing. I had to get a different crank and ended up getting clevite main and rod bearings. I got most of it put back together last night. Just waiting on a new motor mount and all new fluids.

Numerically, yes... But it doesn't mean that a 40 series tire is smaller than a 50 series tire... It's entirely dependent on the section width because it's the aspect ratio to the width.
Deep speed bumps? Most people consider those ditches... Or potholes...
I would imagine there is a very simple explanation for smaller sidewalls...

Hey, me too! (again) I ordered a new crank that just got here about 10 minutes ago. I'll have it all reassembled by tomorrow night and reinstalled Sunday morning.

LMFAO "deep speed bumps" sorry, another Chuck imperfection. I did mean deep pot holes. The original pothole fills with snow, turns to ice, expands, gets hit and scraped by snow plows, expands some more. Freezes some more, expands more............ LOL DDDEEEP, LONG, WIDE!

And I know what you mean about ratios and percentages not necessarily meaning bigger. But for the most part 50 is usually bigger. Its just personal preference, I like my rims lol
