What have you done to your MS3 today?

Mounted my new winter setup, courtesy of CL; 17" Mazda3 wheels with original Yokohama Avid tires with less than 500 miles on them ($300). I'll abuse the tires this winter and then likely mounts some Hankook Ventus Z214 for autocross. if all works well, then back to my alternate stock wheels with goodyear F1 all seasons, they're just loud and harsh.

are these 205/50/17s? If so, any clearance issues or anything? I am thinking about trading my oem speed wheels plus cash for a set. let me know!!

You shouldn't have any problems running 205/50/17, but your speedometer will read faster than you are going (1.3%). If you end up getting those and putting snows on them, get 215/50/17, that's a closer match to stock circumference.

My Koni Yellows should be here today. Hoping to at least get the rears done today.

adapt and overcome
nicely done

Went home for lunch, when I got in the car to go back to work, the battery took it's last crap on me. Went inside and ordered a new battery online with store pickup. Removed the old battery and put it in my trusty garden wagon. Walked the half mile to the Advance Auto Parts and picked up the new battery. Walked home, installed the new battery, marveled at it's cold cranking power and went back to work.

i set my rears at 1/2 turn off max stiff; if I were to do it over again I would go 1-1.5 turns off max stiff. It's not bad enough to pull them off the car for adjustment, but in hindsight, I'd go a little softer than I did; FWIW. Day to day i have the fronts on max soft and then go to max stiff for AutoX.

Dang, where did you order them from? That was fast!

The fronts came from AutoAnything and the rears came from TireRack. Usually TireRack stuff gets here in a day but they were out of them at their Indiana warehouse.

scary quick they ship,
the record for me was a pair of general uhp exclaims ordered online at 1pm and at my door just before 9 the next morning, and on the car before noon

Got the rear Koni Yellows installed. Took me all of 30 minutes for both including the time to cut down the bumpstops and make the dust boots fit over them.

The fronts are proving to be a major PITA so far.

Will, there are some good how-to's on getting the stocks out of there. There are a couple tips on removal in my sig link to the yellows install tips.

Domino, didn't know if you were still in the market, but after 10 months of use, I still like the Yellows. They are holding up very well. The only complaint is the creaks from the pillowballs in the front.

I like knowing it's holding up. I need to find new dust boots for the rear. I have one, but I think I lost the other. I never re-installed them in the rear shocks.

Thanks, I read through those tips and that helped a little. Mainly the prying apart of the lower strut mount. Still was a major PITA, when stuff sucks like that it takes the enjoyment out of working on my car. I could've taken all 4 coilovers on my Miata, taken them apart, put them back together, and put them back on the car in the time it took me to get the stupid OEM strut out of the damn Speed.

In any case, I got the front left done with the exception of clipping the brake line back on. For some reason I couldn't figure that out so I said **** it for the night at least.

I can't wait for tomorrow, I'm busting out the air hammer and or sledge hammer, and showing no mercy to the front right to get it out of there. There's no way I'm spending as much time on it as I did today.
