What have you done to your MS3 today?

Threw on a 16 inch rim off an '01 Acura TL to see if it would fit over the calipers. They just barely clear. Getting a deal on the set, so I'm glad they fit.

But now I'm thinking that I should have checked the back ones too...

what are you doing about the difference in center bore between acura (64.1) and mazda (67.1)?

I'm entirely new to rims and didn't know that was an issue. Any suggestions for me?

It's easier to take something with a larger center bore and just put centering rings in the wheels so that it works with the Mazda 67.1. The problem with the Acura 64.1 is that you'll have to have the extra 3mm bored out in order for them to fit.

The picture above is a hub (not from a Mazdaspeed3 obviously it only has 4 studs) but the center of the wheel needs to fit flush against the part that the studs are sticking through. You can see in the center there is a circle that sticks out, this is what your wheel will set on. Because you have a smaller bore on the Acura wheels this will prevent them from sitting flush against the hub (read: very unsafe).

Another problem you might have with the Acura wheels is that if they are indeed very close to the caliper, that extra distance to get them to sit flush against the hub might actually cause them to contact the caliper. But that can be overcome with a spacer.

the easiest is to find a different set of rims, not the answer you're looking for, I know. As a reference, a lot of hyundai's, kia's, mitsubishi eclipse and eagle talon have the same bolt pattern and hub bore as mazda. there's a good website that's referenced on here somewhere that lists all the specs (minus offset); http://adaptitusa.com/referencebook.htm

Over the weekend I blew out the other rear shock and today I just ordered a Koni Yellows for the whole car.

Or you can take them to a machine shop to have the center bore size increased???? I can't imagine it's that's bad.

Rear ones have more clearance. I use 16" wheels for snows and they clear about that much also. It's great because snow doesn't build up inside the wheel, so I never get snow-induced vibrations.

Went home for lunch, when I got in the car to go back to work, the battery took it's last crap on me. Went inside and ordered a new battery online with store pickup. Removed the old battery and put it in my trusty garden wagon. Walked the half mile to the Advance Auto Parts and picked up the new battery. Walked home, installed the new battery, marveled at it's cold cranking power and went back to work.

I had my battery on my old p5 crap out on me while I was in Maryland last summer for an internship. One morning it just wouldn't start. If my girlfriend hadn't come to visit me that week, I wouldn't have been able to do s***.

Anyway, have a few things in the works for shamu that involves parts to be installed after winter as well as getting it ready for winter. Updates to come after the weekend

question guys. Got a local trying to trade me his oem 2009 mazda 3 wheels (sedan) for my oem speed wheels plus $200 cash. His wheels have 205/50/17 all season tires, while my oems have 235/40/18 nexen n3000s (they come off my old wheels after I sold them and my oem tires were shot). Will the 205/50 cause any problems on my car, or should everything work fine? I just need a set of wheels for winter, and a taller tire for more clearance and hopefully to hook up in the snow. Please let me know before I pull the trigger!!
