What have you done to your MS3 today?

finished installing the H&R coilovers. rears were a bit easier than the fronts. need to adjust the ride height and get an alignment. photos coming soon...!

No rear camber links? O_o Hooray for -2.5 in the rear hahaha.

Got my PG lightened shift weight today! (cool)

+1 would love to see how this looks when it's installed. I'm planning a similar upgrade on my 2010 MS3. Good stopping power and 1/3rd of the cost of a BBK.

The Mazdaspeed3 already has excellent stopping power that's close to a C6 'Vette. Unless you track, what do you require more stopping power for?

no camer links. wheel fitment looks fine, don't need any crazy ass camber! probably just go with factory specs on the first alignment and go from there.

Not talking about wheel fitment at all. Camber links are meant to correct for the negative camber that is created in the rear of the car when it is lowered. If you keep the stock rear camber plates you won't be able to adjust for this hardly at all. I was at -2.5 degrees in the rear before adjusting my camber plates to a different setting other than stock which is way too much. You may want to invest in some camber plates in the near future to help with tire wear and handling.

ah, i see... well, going to get an alignment tomorrow morning. i'll have to see what comes out of it.

just ordered new brakes, rotors and lines.

I guess I should post that I just had the exact system installed a few days ago. Took the car out for a test drive. The effects are less than stellar. I suspect I need to break the pads in before they will have any decent bite. I have not had brand new brakes/rotors before (other than when I bought the car, but never aftermarket).

I even took it back to the shop to have them try to bleed air of the system again. As far as I know, with SS brake lines and new pads, my pedal should be super stiff but it doesn't seem to be....

Not yet. Thats what I meant by not breaking them in yet. I drove around for about 15 minutes and followed Hawk's guide line for breaking pads in. I think it will just take some more time to get them better bedded (as you called it, assuming it is the proper term).

When I got the car back, the pedal was going right to the floor though, which is why I had them re-bleed the system.

Track, as you said.

Awesome, post pictures or videos when you're out there!

EDIT: Just realized that the pads listed are Hawk HPS. Please be aware that these are NOT track pads and they will fade like the stockers if you're time trialing/HPDE. If you're referring to autocross, you'll be fine.

Installed updated JBarone shift plate

JB sent an upgrade kit to me for testing because he knows that I will give an honest evaluation and he is confident it will be a good one.
Forget boot clearance issues. They are no longer a consideration.
There is only one potential problem due to manufacturing tolerances (Mazda's) and it is easily corrected if it impacts you.
When I installed the plate with the upgrade (I had been running my own Rotus mod) I noticed that second gear did not feel right. It made it into gear, but the throw was off somehow, like it wasn't moving as far as fourth and sixth. I checked under the hood and it turned out that the arm that moves you from one slot to the other was contacting the plate in second gear. I took a prybar (read large screwdriver) and bent it a quarter of an inch towards the driver's fenderwell and presto, it was like a new shifter. The thing is flat out awesome. Now I understand why some people rave about this plate and some are like, "yeah it works, but...". If you bought one and took it out, do yourself a favor, get the upgrade kit, bend that arm just a little bit like I did and you will fall in love with this mod the way everyone else has.

Yup I'll be hitting auto-x and the occasional road/strip run. This is mostly my daily but I still want to be able to play on the weekends. I'm a good 6 months from hitting any races since I just bought the car a month ago and trying to play catch up with my finances. Slowly adding stuff and getting ready though. My main challenge right now is getting suspension for the 2010 ms3. Our options are minimal right now.

One of my local friends here had the same problem with the weird shift issue. Almost seemed like it wouldn't catch. He said it felt like the ssp was rubbing the linkage or binding thus causing a bad throw. I'll send him your link as a reference. Thanks!
