Awesome weekend. The 24 hour was great. Interesting to be in the garages during the race.

Got my clutch job finished. Still have lots to do yet but I was unable to do the coolant reroute with the parts I had, so I ordered the spacer from BEGi.
 
I found the source of my rear end clunk.

What the...


I ordered new shock mount hardware (for all 4) from Mazda today.
Called Flyin' Miata and found that they sell service parts for the shock hats. I've got a new bearing for the damaged one and new sleeves for both rears coming in as well.

I also talked to Koni Lee (if you've dealt with Koni motorsports before, you likely know who that is), and he thinks that the threads are likely salvageable. I've got a call in with a fabricator friend to see if he's got the right die for the threads (they're 12x1.25, and I've only got 12x1.5 and x1.75... figures) to see if I can't salvage what's there.

Then I disassembled the hats. I absolutely love the design of these things:

got it back from the body shop a day late (really really pissed at my body shop right now and it already needs to go back) but got a shot with the new car...scalpel meet sledgehammer

I'll ask you guys before I make a FS thread: does any body want my wheels or trailer?

15x7.5 Konig ReTracks, 4x100 bolt pattern in like new condition. Right now they have a set of Hoosier A6 225\45\15 mounted, 75% life left. The trailer is the basic harbor freight with a box, no rust.

shadow, how bad did they do?

well first i got it back and there was a chunk of paint missing out of the passenger fender so they needed to take it back (it sat there for three days and nobody properly qc'ed so i found that). Then after that i finally get it back the next day after dealing with a dick for a customer service rep and the passenger fender doesnt even remotely match the rest of the car along with a nice clear coat burn in the middle of the hood. It is currently in the body shop again hopefully getting fixed right this time.

the bad part is i cant flip out and raise hell like a normal person because i work for the service department of the dealership. I have learned my lesson though and will never bring a car there ever again, i can only imagine the nightmare i would have if they have to match the pearl of the speed3
 
Fixed the suspension. Still waiting on some hardware from Mazdaspeed to come in. I should be able to button it up by this weekend.

jesus christ, that's ridiculous. one would think that since you work for same company they would treat you and your car great. I can't imagine if they treated your car that bad how they would treat a complete stranger's car.

The car looks like a sack of asshole. I think the person who painted it was either blind or plain ******* retarded. He got it back today and I went and looked at it.. I can find 50 things wrong with it but I'm done dealing with that shop.. Apparently I caused a bit of a stink when I MF'd the customer service rep... One of my buddies that works there said his ass is still sore from the reaming I delivered...
that's freakin great! they need to know they ****** up and there is no reason to deal with people who can't do their jobs right. make them pay to have someone else fix their bad job.
 
Got a bunch done today, not quite to the point where I can fire her up but getting closer. Coolant reroute is basically done (just have to connect the hose to the radiator and extend the temp sensor wiring), starter is on, square top intake mani, injectors/fuel rail, alternator on and belt tensioned, valve cover back on. I have to pick up a nylock type nut for the PS pump bolt tomorrow, then all I have to do is get that together and the belt tensioned, radiator and fans installed, supercharger put back on, coolant filled, vacuum lines connected (installed a EUDM square top intake manifold which has fewer vacuum taps than the US version so I'll have to get creative), new battery installed and the fire her up. Then I just have to fab up a better mount for the MS and do some tuning, and regulate my right foot until the clutch is bedded in.
 
Mine is for sale, should someone be interested in it. Not in a hurry to sell it, but I can't justify having 3 cars either. PM me for details.
