What have you done to your Miata today?

Sounds like a dead throwout bearing, from it doing it every time you press the clutch.
I thought if it was a throwout bearing, it would STOP making noises and crap when you pushed the clutch in.

My problem is the opposite, it MAKES sounds when pushed in.

No, it's not really doing anything until you push the clutch in, disengaging the clutch. The pilot bearing will make noise all the time, or at specific RPM.

all the time you say or certain RPM's? Like a super high pitched whistle sound? if so. . . . . . crap

stupid question time, but shouldn't something be hooked to the third vac port?

it's the old Flyin Miata eletronic boost control solinoid

it's got 2 vac lines and the wiring going into it but i can't find anything online as to if or where a third line needs to run

this could be a reason i'm spiking at 14 eh?

and i don't see anywhere for another vac line to go to from the solinoid

No big deal, it's how my boost control solenoid was plumbed. When boost isn't being routed to the wastegate it is likely venting out of that port.

ok, just curious, because i can't find ANYTHING on this one

thanks!

and i'm ordering a seriallink adapter as well as a Palm m500 to setup datalogging

Wastegate doesn't bleed boost, it routes exhaust around the compressor. I'd still check to make sure you've got a line going from that vac port to the wastegate. Or better yet, e-mail FM and ask 'em for the vacuum routing diagram for that boost controller.

ah, you so smart, i'll email Keith now

but the thicker of the two hoses is going to the waste gate

oh and i think i found my next gauge (vs installing 4-5 gauges)

And it connects directly to the sensors vs hooking into the OBD port

just got confirmation that the opening on the boost controller is a vent and supposed to be left open

I was referring to the boost control solenoid routing boost pressure to the wastegate actuator, or venting it. Not that the wastegate vents boost. Sorry for the confusion.

so i guess my boost issue could just be as simple as plugging in the keypad and seeing what the boost is set to. . . . . which i probably should have done from the start. . . .
