What have you done to your Miata today?

took the '91 specmiata out to the 3.1mile track at SMMR this weekend... Saturday it rained like crazy, so I rode around learning to be smoother in pouring rain on some crappy street tires... the track closed when the course essentially became a lake.

this morning, however, the track was dried off, and i got a session in on my RA1s... and then it started raining again... but a buddy let me use a set of his unshaved R888's...

they're pretty awesome. didn't think the tread would funnel away much water, but even when the pavement got wet the grip was pretty impressive, even tho I never got the tires hotter than about 65 degrees... was still turning laps faster than the last time I was out in November on RA1's, when it was dry and sunny... and the ambient temp was up over 70 that day, ehe...

even got bumped up to the intermediate group today... and on the last run session of the day, since we were running out of time they combined the intermediate and advanced groups, and got some nice complements from some of the advanced drivers after, too...

I had to fire my painter before he got started on the Miata. Thank goodness for that! I'm taking the car to another painter, tonight. I'll be getting a better price and less BS. I fired the other guy before I met the new guy; so, it was a pleasant surprise to find out I'd get the car painted cheaper. If luck holds out, I'll have a Miata with new paint, in a few days!

dropped it off at the shop this morning. Theyre gonna fix the door and respray the whole car. Hopefully ill get it back on wednesday, but we'll see. In the mean time, i get to drive my gfs 88 camry woo woo!(mj)

(sarcasm btw)

Yeah, I wouldn't be too hard on her Camry. She could let you walk.

I'm glad you've got the car in the shop. It should look nice, when you get it back. I'll have mine in the shop for up to a month. The guy I hired will be in no hurry so he can make it look nice. I can handle the wait, if he's good at what he does. I was tickled to find a painter so quickly, after I fired the jerk. Now, I have to see if I need someone else to do my seats or do them, myself. I'll call the upholsterer, today.

Will do, for sure. I'm in a quandry about what to do with the seats; but, I'll sort that out, shortly.

Thanks to a car forum that's close to the upholsterer I was trying to connect with, I finally got just enough info to locate the business phone number. The contact was made, the job accepted, and the restoration project for Little Red is back on track! Thankfully, the jerk painter is the only one losing out on this deal. That works for me!

no kidding dude, congrats!

Today... I missed my car. I'm really pumped and ready go to for the last push to finish up the last of the major off-season service items and have the car ready for the last weekend of the month / 1st autox of the month. Seriously rearing to go.

Glad to hear it!(2thumbs)

I went to get the seats to take them to the upholsterer. The painter already had them out of the car. He's already sanding away. He's marked most of the dings and is slowly working his way through those. I took the seats to the upholsterer and had a nice chat about the fired painter. I'm so glad he didn't get to paint my car. In a couple of weeks, I should have newly refurbished seats.

Sweet!!
I picked mine up from the body shop today, finally! (alright)

You guys make me envious. It's all I can do to keep from going to the body shop to see how mine is coming along. I don't want to bother the guy too much, though. I may go over there early next week to see how things are coming along. I'll be lucky to get mine back by the end of the month.

Dropped mine off Monday morning, and picked it up on thursday. Then again, my car isnt a show car...(second)

MSP sub/amp rack was already there, now working on a removable cover. Good to go for showing and then on a track day I can take it out and go about my business.

Why not make a new sub box all together? Would definitely be lighter then the MSP box, probably look a tad better too.

Nah...it's fine the way it is (bolted down) lol. Once I get back to the US, the miata won't be driven as a DD like it was here. Just on the nice, warm SUNNY days or days that the wife won't take out the P5 (meets, track days/auto-x are the exceptions). Also, I wanted to continue the trend of using other Mazda parts on this car (ex: Kevin's old miata motor, Dubby's 2.0 protege fan from his wrecked P5 & of course Barry's MSP sub rack lol) and the list goes on.
