What have you done to your Miata today?

Not. F**kin'. Around.

Both rear rows down. For autocrosses, I can get by with just the 3rd row flat. I could PROBABLY stack all this stuff in with the 2nd row up (save the middle seat for the big canopy), but then I wouldn't be able to see out the back.

Ok I'll ask, what's the fan for besides maybe cooling?

It's for having when you're hot as balls on the side of a mountain in North Carolina in a multi-layer nomex suit, boots, gloves and balaclava. It made a huge difference in getting our group of drivers (and our paddock neighbors) cooled off between runs up the hill. It was DAMN hot.

Speaking of, this is what I did today:

Broke my splitter on the last run up the mountain. Tried a different line and bottomed on a bump I hadn't seen before.
Nothing that can't be fixed, and given how that place eats cars, the fact that that was the sum total of the damage is freaking awesome.

Oh, uh... also this happened.

That is awesome Andrew! Nice work!!! How many cars?

50 at the event. I was 5th overall at the end of Saturday (but knew a couple of the guys that brought proper engines up, not junkyard 1.8s, had been having some issues. Those issues cleared up and I ended up 8th overall, and 1st in my class.

A buddy came and crewed for me (ie: helped drink beer and hang out), and took what is now my new favorite picture of my car from the spectator area about half way up the hill.

I found out I was 0.5 seconds away from the SPU class record (that I was running in) this weekend. If I'd have known, maybe I'd have pulled the ballast plates from the passenger footwell (rlaugh)

Miata powered Locost that won King of the Hill this weekend, making over 400 lb/ft of torque in a 1400 lb car. Talk about pulling yourself up the hill in that thing.

Maff, love that picture of you on the course.

As seems to be my MO, I bought a couple of items while I'm away from home. A set of Gorilla lug nuts in silver for the new wheels, and a Mazdaspeed 4-2-1 header with the flex joint. While I don't have any issue with the Cobalt I'm currently running, I figure the construction of the MS will be of higher quality and the price was right. Pictures will have to wait until I get home.

Thanks, it's such a great shot :D

(I mean, I'm pretty biased, but, you know)

My regular autocross co-driver came to hang out / crew on Sunday and shot a little video from the spectator stands. I love that it doesn't sound like the typical, ear-bleeding Spec Miata. Sounds good echoing off the mountain too :D

Not mine, but worked on a project for a buddy this weekend. It seems to have a very familiar look to it, but I just can't seem to place it :D

The 2nd one came together SO MUCH faster than the first. Funny thing that. I made a template and did a bit of prep work on the brackets for a few hours this week, but we went from a sheet of ABS and virgin sheet-metal to done in about 3 hours today

You'll have to forgive me (ok, you don't have to), but people keep posting pics, and I just can't get enough :D

Tuesday, I drove it a pre-construction meeting for my new garage (there will be a house, too, but W/E), and on the way there I got caught in the worst rain/hail storm I've ever been in! To my surprise, all of the glass on the car survived. Unfortunately, the hood did not fair nearly as well, and now has a texture somewhat like that of a golf ball! Time to file another claim with GEICO! (bang)

Dude, no...your insurance premiums will go up for nothing. I guarantee you can find one the right color (minus your pimp paint job ;) for less than that on the used market. It's a hood... 4 nuts and 1 or 2 hose connections and it comes off. Forget going through insurance for that.
