What have you done to your Miata today?

I has a set of A6s I got from Bill, I need to mount those and get hub center rings and lug nuts. I'll be set after that but I'm not using them right away (even though I really really want to), I did great yesterday but I'd like to get a couple more events with daily tires for better car control

Marc was the one who spun out, we were both having issues going from 2nd to 3rd, he got it into 5th once and into 1st when he spun.

They are used, you can see on the inside that tires have been mounted before.

gotta get that short shifter, never miss 3rd again!

there's a guy on miata.net selling a set of 16x8 rpf1s, don't think he'll only sell 3 though
not sure about my 7.5" spec II's fitting on an 8" rim for autoX?

only when I autox, I haven't tried to go into 3rd while drifting out of a corner on the street... I'll be fine if I take my time, but we were trying to do that a bit too fast I guess, it was better if I waited till I was out of the turn and was going straight but it was hard to since the car was bouncing off the limiter most of the time

It's not a short shifter that's the problem. I have the stock shifter in mine (like you need a short shifter in a miata....). Hitting 3rd while under load / in a corner is all about technique. Mostly: don't "try" to make it happen. If you try to push from 2nd > 3rd you're going to hit 5th every time under load. If you slow it down by literally tenths of a second, and nudge to neutral and let it center up then nudge straight forward, it'll hit 3rd every time. As soon as you over think it and try and beat the system, you're going to blow a run by missing 3rd. I've seen it happen a lot.

What is the actual tread width of your 205's?

My 205 RE-11's would be great on an 8" wheel as the tread is 7.6" wide.

^^^This. Depends on the tire. Some are narrow as all hell, some fit just right on an 8".

Gave her a bath!

BTW, this is 4 days (450 miles, 1 autocross) worth of brake dust with Carbotech XP10s...

nothing, but i do have a list
1. used aem intake (going to see if i can lower the intake temps with this kit)
2. improved oil dip stick (Instead of the plastic handle that’s notorious for becoming brittle and snapping off, it has a steel rod loop covered with a shiny yellow vinyl tube to protect your fingers from getting burned. (If you don’t care for the yellow tube, you could replace the tube with silicone vacuum hose in the color of your choice. The other advantage of this dipstick is the scale for reading the oil level. The crimped-on cast aluminum tip has a bright silver finish and a woven pattern to hold the oil so you can clearly see the level.)
3. new after market radiator overflow bottle

Hood stand offs are always an option. Not my cup of tea, but they work.

Today I made an attempt to fix whatever is wrong with my left rear caliper by adjusting the hex screw and making sure the e-brake lever isn't binding up. I'm guessing that I'm ultimately going to have to rebuild the caliper or just get a new one because it hasn't worked properly for a while. :(

But I did get an install some fancy custom center caps for my new 6ULs from R2-Limited.com:

oh ya! i have them too! i need something...my intake temps in this wonderful boston stop and go traffic are almost as hot as the engine water!

Reattached the A-pillar gauge pod with 3M tape (the previous tape had given up). This time I not only ran it up both sides but across the top as well. I just don't want to drill holes in the A-pillar to use the little pushpins that were included with the pod. If it comes off again I'll see what other sort of adhesive I can use.

Finally did an autopsy on my engine that blew up in the spring. On top of the knock damage I knew of I found there was cylinder wall scoring, all of the crank bearings were galled, and cylinder 4 had damage to a ring and two ring lands.
