What have you done to your Miata today?

Put some touch up paint where the sheetmetal was cut in the rear firewall for the roll bar for some rust prevention... got a headache from the fumes :(

Well since Rob didn't post it... and it kinda came up in conversation, followed by a full minute of laughter from Rob... Here's my car after it gets tuned.

go Tylor! btw, did you get the a/c kit yet or are you getting the bumper?

i've got a compressor, just need to actively look for a dryer now

and i'm still unsure on the bumper. I'd rather go with the NB interior

Drove it to the local country bar last night. No drinking (well 3 beers over 5 hours) as it's one of my rules driving that car, but got a lot of interesting reactions from rednecks. It's always fun when I'm stopped, get moving, and they hear the turbo spooling. It always changes their tune. Well...that and a not-quiet 3" exhaust.

3 inch exhaust? jesus...

I bought some headlights with the intention to retrofit but my usual parts didn't work, so I just installed the headlights anyways hoping it would be an upgrade halogen wise. These are the headlights I ordered:

They came with some blue bulbs but I installed a set of standard Philips H4 bulbs I had lying around.

One old, one new:

Both new:

Based on a wall comparison, the new lights look much better than the old Sylvania sealed assemblies I had in there. There is actually a somewhat decent cutoff compared to the old ones, and the ability to change bulbs instead of the whole assembly is definitely convenient. The lights are also glass, pretty good quality at that, too.

Been stripping the package tray and the fuel tank covers. Got about half way through and the rust is thick enough that I'm starting to think it's really not worth the effort. I'm calling in a couple favors to see if I can pick up some "new" ones now. I've seen plenty on cars that haven't rusted at all, so that's what I'm hoping to grab. Of course, they'll be rust-proofed and painted to *prevent* any rust build up, but I'd rather start fresh if I can.

rust = weight reduction

did you read the GRM article on the challenge where the guy mopped the chassis down with acid to force it to rust

It never rusted, it was more like eaten away. Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. And no, I'm not acid washing the miata.

Yet.
