What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Who the hell removed my pic from my signature?

Anways. Took my car to the show today. About 100 cars showed up. Mostly hotrods and muscle cars. I didnt place in my class. Took off so qwik today I broke the bracket off my sub box in my trunk. Ripped out the power and ground wires. Then wondered where all my bass in my music went. haha. To top that all off my AP refuses to read my ecu now. RaceRoots seems like they cant modify the map I sent them. This e-tuning process is taking way too long. Over a week now and I still havent gotten the first revision. So much for a 48-72 hour turn around.

yeah lately i had that same issue Qwik.. the dongle on mine was loose.. so i ripped the whole assembly out where u plug it in and tied the whole thing up behind the dash, its not coming loose now.. check your connection and make sure its pushed in all the way because somehow as i was driving and going over bumps it was coming loose.. weird.. what were you up against in you class.. im suprised you didnt place!!!

All I know of was a trans am with a paint job. Not sure who else. I was in the 1980-present class.

We had a dyno day here in SoCal. I pulled 250hp and 291ft-lbs of torque on a Dynapack dyno. My AFR looks pretty level at about 11.3 from 3500-6200rpm, but the guy didn't plug the boost sensor in so I don't have a boost measurement. I apparently had a big knock around 3100rpm the first pull, which isn't a good thing, but the car sounds good and didn't blow any smoke on the dyno. The stock exhaust is really quiet, first time I've been outside the car and heard it revved up like that.

It's a bit perplexing that the car pulled that much torque at the hubs (the Dynapack doesn't use rollers), but I'm guessing that's not on the same scale as the Mazda numbers at the flywheel. I have no mods, only Denso ITV22 plugs, and somehow I doubt they are giving me +10ft-lbs as well as all of the drivetrain loss back. :)

Have you had any issues with this yet? I heard some people have been and thats the only thing thats holding me off from buying one.....how hard was it to take apart the center console too?

well ive had it on for about a day and no issues. as for the center console, as long as you follow the directions jbarone gives you its not too bad. just take your time

You might lose that 10 lbs/ft if you had wheels on there and were on rollers.

I finally replaced the sensor on my Prosport boost gauge. This time, I mounted the sensor inside the passenger compartment.

This is what the old one looked like. Corrosion damage galore and more.

ooooooh man, please please PLEASE take higher quality pix.....those look sick and I'd like to see more detail! The stock MS6 wheels are growing on me and I might do a PC too :)

No doubt about it. The Dynapacks read the highest numbers of all the current crop of dynos. The Dynapacks seem to be as good as any for individual tuning gains/losses though. You can't compare the numbers from one type or series of dyno to any other. The only comparisons that are even close to valid are those run on the same type/series dyno with the same correction programs and dyno software running....

i promise i will have some hi-res photos by the end of the week for ya :D

Thanks Qwik, sorry to hear you didn't place in the show, but that class seems fairly broad and vague. At least you will have a nice clean car to show for it!

OJ- I actually looked at the write up you did awhile ago and ended up ordering the frosted superwhite LED's you had on at that point.. that write up helped alot.. thanks.

Good to hear! Did you order the ones I had on first? They were a little blue for me, and the x5 LEDs I replaced them with were whiter. Either way, I hope you like the ones you got!

@OJ - I've never done a under the hood wash before. Is there anything I need to do before hand in order to protect some vital engine parts from getting damaged?

Not really, worbit. If you have an intake, I'd tape a bag over it before starting. Some say to cover the IC, but I just avoided spraying directly on it (I think the coil packs are underneath and water can accumulate?). just use some caution and common sense. Like Steve says, don't spray too hard, and don't leave the hose on for like 10 minutes.

OJ that engine bay is BEGGING for an intake lol! Looks much better after the clean though.

I know it is! I've been dying to put one in. I've had the Speedie6 TIP on since last summer, and hopefully I'll get an SRI this summer. I have to space out my mods, and just ordered the TT and CPE rear diff mounts which should be on their way now. I did do a little work this weekend, and I'll post pics when I have things finished this week.

Well, thanks to your inspiration OJ I went ahead and washed the engine yesterday afternoon. Used black magic engine shine for degreaser and the back to black on the plastic.

what about water near battery or anything like that, i want to hose my engine bay down too, but am always afraid. going to be nice and warm so i might do it the end of this week so it can dry out nicely.

just to be safe i put a plastic bag around the battery and the hole leading down to the cai. other than that I just followed others advice like OJ's and avoided going crazy w/ the hose and spraying directly into the intercooler or underneath where the coil packs are. then I let it run for 10 min or so to dry and used a towel where it was really pooled up and finally drove it around a bit just to be sure. i might hit it with the back to black again.

not really problems that arent correctable, its usualyl just gate alighnmnent is slightly off.
so just adjust the shifter cable linkage a bit until shifting smooths out and feels right/doesnt catch.

EDIT: FYI yall should be familiar enough with your MS6 to know you do NOT need to remove the whole center console for the install. Jaime puts that process up there cause it is the safest/longest method = less liability for him... understandable.

that was a fun day!! definitly true to *HUB* numbers, but not really as real world as dynajet and drums... my dynapack pulls with just intake/bpv hit 267 awhp @ 305 tq. not bad eh? then again they had to poor a gallon of water over my stock TMIC cause it wasnt keeping up so well... it WAS sitting in the hot sun for a couple hours though...
