What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

haha. Should the engine atleast be a little heated up. Or do it cold?

Is simple green what you use?

You need to be careful about spraying water on a hot engine. I've never heard of it with aluminum, but I have heard of cast iron blocks/heads cracking because of the rapid cooling.

Whats the difference then driving through a big puddle? I think thats more of a myth

The amount of water touching the surfaces of the engine block and head are superficial at best compared to the amount of water you'd be directly spraying on it with a hose. When water from a puddle splashes onto the surface there is some temperature delta at the surface, but it is minute and quickly overcome by the heat of the material around it.

During a rapid cooling of several hundred degrees over the course of a few seconds, you can actually alter/damage the microstructure of the metal at hand. As I said before, I don't know if this is as much an issue with aluminum but I'd rather one of our members not be the one to find out.

That's why I said warm, not hot. I'd shoot for a temp of 75-80 degrees on the block, which is really enough to warm it up, that way you're not at the point where a quench can damage/change the structure of the metal.

Went out and bought alot of cleaning products for my car. There is a local car show tomorrow. My dad is hogging the garage with his corvette. The rain doesnt look like its gonna clear up until tomorrow morning. So some how I have to wash, vacuum, detail the outside and inside of the car by 10am. Looks like 1 less speed6 at the show.

You need some cheap labor. Don't you have any buddies?? :D

Got my car back from the dealership after a week of searching for a flywheel. So I got a new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing. Total amount came out to be $2,073.00. Good thing It's still under warranty! The clutch feels MUCH lighter than before. And the shifter itself feels more tight. Before it felt as though there was a lot of movement. Off to go wash her!(drinks)

washed my amsoil dryflow filter today, aswell as cleaned my maf sensor with some maf cleaner. car seems to pull harder, and throttle response is better.

also just got my jbarone ssp and bushings in the mail today, will be installing them tomorrow and let you all kno how they are

Put in my PTP Pill today. Less knock and less smoke, so I'm a little happy. Getting a stand back soon, it's about time I need to tune.

I also gave my car a decent clean today, also made a video out of bored-ness. Nothing special though, most of the videos out there are speed 3's anyways, hahaha.

New pics taken too, should upload soon. Also need to get the pics of the led swap up. Coilovers should be in in about a week or two:).

Good luck at the show tomorrow Qwik6, show season doesnt start up here for another few weeks. my car wont be 100% ready to go till May though. ohh and to keep with the topic.. i looked at mine today, told the car it would be driving again on monday and said sorry for letting it sit for a week.. true story, my pepe thought i was nuts!! haha
