What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

well yeah when the light goes on you are low on fuel. most likely within 2.2 gallons of being empty.. some cars throw the light at 1.5 gallons left and some throw it when your below 1 gallon.

I had a Ford that explicitly stated in the manual that the light came on with 2.2 gallons. I once found myself in my MS6 about 40 miles from home when the light came on. It was in that same instant that I realized my wallet was at home. I called Mazda to find out exactly when our light comes on, but they were no help. I made it home on what was left in the tank, so I figure the light must be pretty close to 2 gallons.

You guys gotta get over this fear that you're gonna blow with minor bolt ons...this car isn't that finicky. If you don't go for broke, do the research, and keep it to a safe and reasonable level, you've got nothing to worry about. Learn about what might happen, then learn what you can and can't do, and you won't need to drive around in fear anymore.

i edited my post i meant to say 2.2, it says it in our manual.

well stated steve, i felt the same way when i started seeing everyone posting about it..it may take a few hours of your time but it will save you from blowing up and driving the car with fear if ya do even the least bit of reading and learning.

Well I have blown too many hours reading these boards :). I know the ins and outs of this car and what you should / shouldn't do. But I don't know how to tune engines. Therefore all my trust is in someone else.

The car runs great and randomely I get bursts of knock. I see 0 knock as of late but today I was driving home and I punched 2nd to get in front of someone. Was over 3500 rpm and I got KR and hesitation. I immediately took my foot off. Crap like that scares me.

And my car will run 18 psi one day and 21 the next.

what precautions would that be?

How you mod. Most mods I have done are performance gains but also for safety. As crazy as that sounds. Also knowing when to load the car up and when not to.

Coyfish. What is your take on the e-tuning so far? Was it worth the 250 bucks? I am about to start mine. My car runs pretty smooth as it is and eveything is in check. iIm not sure exactly how much more gains they can get out of it. I wanted to get cobb to tune it but RR wouldn't refund my money.

Well I don't know about tuning so I don't know how much my opinion is worth. My parameters were off the walls before the tune. My car just didn't like the AP I guess. Anyway the RR has gone smoothly. They get the revisions to you in a couple days. So far my KR is 0 at WOT, A/F have improved vastly, and boost creep is gone. Well don't take my word for it. Just look at the attatch.

Both are 2nd gear pulls. First is with a OTS cobb map. The second is revision 2 from RR.

Just recieved rev 3 today and also asked them to add launch control.

Look at those fuel trims in the 1st one lol. And how lean !

your still a touch on the lean side... id like to see your WOT A/F ratio at 10.8- 11.2.. but definetly an improvment over the OTS. instead of the H&R springs you have up next for mods.. do the FP Internals instead.. i mean your not too bad still in the 1600's at 17.4 psi WOT.. but it could be better.. that would also bring your AFR down with the correct tune..

Thanks for the advice. Im not getting springs I have to erase that sig.

Im not really up for paying 350 bucks for internals though. Im not running a DP and my stocker is holding pressure "relatively" well. But I agree I might need to get one. Hopefully I can avoid it though. Well see with the new revisions.

Not too bad. Your max load is in the 170's. I checked mine last night and I am over 240%. Fuel pump internals won't be a bad choice. I am glad I did mine. I noticed a nice difference up top where before I was biting my teeth hoping it doesn't blow with pressure dropping to 1300 by redline. I have a turbo back exhuast with no cats though.

Did RaceRoots adjust your LTFT's right off the back?

On my e-mail they asked for a 30 second idle log. 30 second cruise in 6th gear. Wot runs of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Each seperatly. I wasnt aware they could adjust ltft's off of cruise and wot runs.

Definately a huge improvement with just the 1st revision. But they told me to avoid heavy load / boost for the 1st revision so I didn't get any logs (other than DD logs).

From your pics installing internals doesn't look like something you can do in a parking lot with a box of tools lol. How long did it take you again?

A few hours. Longest part is getting to it and getting it off which that wasn't even hard. I had to stop for a while to get an E8 socket which I didnt have. Not to mention the instructions sucked and pictures were out of order. It was showing me a kit with new retainers while I was using the stock one. I then had to figure out how the heck the stock retainer came off. Which all I did was use a socket on the top of it and hit it a few times to get the inner part flush so the internals would slide out of the groove. After that it was a matter of putting the new ones in it's place. It was fun pushing down on the spring as hard as I could to get the retainer to slide on. After that I had to put the retainer in the vise and tapped in the center section to lock in the retainer. then soaked the whole assembly in gas for a while. Took it out cleaned off the spring side and put fresh oil all over the spring. I notice a little bit of black build up in the inside of the pump itself where the internals bolt into. Cleaned that up and put the assembly back on.

If I were to do it again I would say a good 2.5 hours.

Darn, looks like its not something I can do by myself in the parking lot then lol.

On a happy note I was excited to test out my cobb ap 2 step today. So great. Was set to 3500 and I launched it once. Haven't launched in forever but definately felt great off the line. Builds boost before you drop the clutch.

Took a three day weekend on the nicest day of the year so far. Gave a quick wash, adjusted my clutch pedal, cleaned inside... Kind of nice after a long winter.

So my car has been at the dealership the past two days getting a throw out bearing done (2nd time since Dec.) I get a call today and they told me that the flywheel has some play, and has been prematurely damaging the throw out bearing, and has gouges in it from the clutch. So I am now getting a new flywheel, clutch, and throw out bearing....Nobody locally has the flywheel, so it's gonna take awhile to get my car back.

sweet pics chris.. cars looking sexy!!.. two things.. must.. paint.. calipers and rotor hats. that is all

That's in the cards. My 5-Zigens are only 8 months old and the clear is already peeling (frustrating). When I take them off to get them re-cleared I'll paint the calipers and center of the rotors.

I took a 3 day weekend too. :) Washed my car. Had to put my rear muffler back on that came loose from getting caught on some concrete at a friends house. Took my mufflers off and the car sounds quite nice. Thinking of getting some straight pipes fabbed up and do away with the mufflers.

Took apart my forge bpv and clean it and re lubed it.

Edit: Heres a vid I shot after taking a few photos tonight.

Magnaflow or Corksport; The first if you're looking to stay quieter. The second if you don't care how loud it is.
