I got the boost gauge finished last night (Prosport Performance in Block8head pod). It powers up and does the sweep, and appears to be functioning mostly correctly, but doesn't do a shut-down sweep, and seems to peak at about 14 PSI. I'm thinking either A) I haven't wired the power correctly which could possibly cause both issues, or B) this gauge doesn't have a power-off sweep and I have a boost leak somewhere. With just the ACC power on and the engine off, the gauge reads about -1, so it seems like it is calibrated a little off too.

So I'll try Qwik's reducer trick, and look for some more solid T-bolt clamps while I'm at it.

Small world. I've got a Dashhawk, but reading boost off of that is a bit frustrating since I have it mounted down in the ashtray. With the CP-e defrost vent mount not happening, that freed up that space, and the only gauge I think I might want is boost anyways. I like that spot best, the vent mounts don't appeal to me, and the pod showed up for sale, so I grabbed it. I'm probably going to buy the Prosport boost gauge shortly, and then install everything when I get a chance. I like how that gauge matches up with the dash lights, I think it will fit in better than a digital gauge would.

What did you do with your gauges?

Ive got a blue prosport digital boost gauge with red aeroforce scan gauge. Im going to get a green oil pressure / temp gauge someday.

Yours is the premium series gauges right? I have mine set for amber with the parking lights on. And white for during the day when lights are off. I can't remember how I wired mine up. But mine doesnt go black when I cut it off. I can upload a vid of my fancieness.

Got a new creaking noise in my car. Was driving home last night and I did a 2nd-3rd pull onto the freeway. Then I started getting a weird noise coming from the winshield / dash intersection. Seems to come when I get over 60 mph. Maybe it was just the cold (60 degrees) temp.

mine just started this in the same spot too! Very annoying.

IIRC this happened to a MS6 owner a while back and they had to remove a foam piece, or a piece of thin metal because it had come loose and was rattling at highway speeds.. correct me if im wrong but i think thats what happened. especailly with all the motor mounts we all have installed it doesnt suprise me.

Nah, mine is just the Performance Series, so maybe it doesn't have a shut down sequence.

Ive found that most of my noises that come from the front of the car/ windshield area and freak me out are actually coming from the glove box, so i would check that out too.

There is that. But, I've decided to go with the "better than stock" theme for whatever I do, so any upgrades are going to appear as stock as I can make them, at least for now. So, red FTW.

Few blown motors on the mazdaspeed f0rums. Gives me that nasty feeling in my gut. Only reason I got tuned was because my car was running like crap with my minor bolt ons. Anyway hopefully it lasts me a little longer until I get my new car.

meh, it doesnt bother me. one of the motors that went was partly the owners fault / neglagence to take care of it properly.. making too much power/load in the lower rpm range is bad for these cars, my tune doesnt make alot of power till its above 3600 rpm..

anyways i cleaned up my engine bay today in a few spots that were alittle too dirty for me.. now i can offically say you could eat of any part of my motor. next up is the coolant bypass/intake manifold gasket install from PTP once i get the mani back from the powdercoater.

Yeah I realize most people who blow have it coming. And they come on the forums to b**** without taking the blame for their own mistakes.

Well I wanted to build / have built an rb25det 240sx but I don't think thats going to happen. Would be fun but im going to med school so I need something 100% reliable. Won't have time to be wrenching or anything like that. So right now it looks like ill get an evo. Don't think I could live without boost. Safe 350-400whp ftw.


Anyway almost done with my Race Roots tune revisions. Curious to have my car dyno'd. I put down 274whp with my mods minus the TIP / AP. So should be a pretty accurate before / after.
