What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

I just found out insurance on the vette. Would you believe half of what the 6 is?

I call bulls***..

Im going to wash the 6 in a few hours (maybe even now since im up) then at 4 im going to go meet one of the local 3 guys and take some photos.

I'm not surprised by that. Typical age of ownership is much older than the 6, fewer accidents, and probably cheaper to repair as well. All that adds up in your favor.

no, the age group that owns the cars and how often they are wrecked.

All the kids that are 17-19 and drive integra's and civics, there rates are more expensive because kids are stupid and race/wreck their cars. Most Vette owners are old or retired and therefore have more driving experience= not as many wrecks.

My sisters insurance (shes 22) on her civic is more expensive than me (17) on the 6.

im sure if it was a 17 year old driving a vette it would be expensive as s***.

but isn't he younger than most Vette owners? That's what they determine in the rates.

Exactly. Something that isn't wrecked often and owned by a primarily older crowd will have lower rates than something owned by new drivers. Hell, the insurance on my Mustang is $15 more a month than my MS6 was. I'm 25.

Partially the reason. This happened to me when I was looking for a new car, the older 350z and new mustang gt were about the same, yet the new 370z was gobs more, all because the repair costs were still high due to it being a new and rarer model. My guess is the mazdaspeed 6 is actually less plentiful and more costlier for parts than the C5 vette. At least this is what I was told by my insurance is the biggest reason behind costs.

Did a little demodding today. took out the AuxMod (up for sale in the FS section) and the wiring for the nav unit.....new replacement mods coming soon...

ugh, I just know my synchros are getting pretty worn. Every few shifts is nasty...

I'm currently looking at NA Miatas... I can't wait to get one and enjoy the buttery smooth shifter on it. They're far far better than the MS6 POS tranny

After some reasearch, I just ordered 3 qts of Redline 75W-90 for the transfer case and differential and tomorrow I'm going to go to a Ford dealship and try to get some of the Ford Motorcraft Syntetic Gear Oil for the transmission. Seems to help stop grinding...

Bought a new T3 GT3076R today. Time for some big powah.

Ooooo.... have fun! with those upgraded internals, you should be 100% ready to go! let us know how it goes.
How much boost you hoping to push?

i know, honestly a smoother tranny would make all the difference for this car. Even so i still luv my ms6! you should keep the ms6 for daily and use the miata as the weekend fun car. :P

I'm actually doing it the other way around. I'm going to drive the Miata to work (25 miles each way) since it gets better MPG and uses regular. Drive it through winter EXCEPT when in snows, then drive the speed6. The speed 6 will be for road trips, practicality, going fast when the weather is crumby, and snow fun. The miata will see some snow fun too ;)

oh ok, makes sense for practicality! nice man... keeping it all mazda...

i was considering the same, lol
that means as you save money with the miata as daily driver, you can really beef up the modding and fun factor on the ms6!!
at least, i would. lol

I'm probably going to push 18-20psi with meth. Maybe 25? I may have a balls to the wall tune and a safe daily tune. I'm shooting for 450awhp at the most. I'd be happy with 400+ until I start building the engine. 400 is possible with a good tune and supposting mods. I'll probably post up dynos on here once I do a dyno tune.
