What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

the effing 6mm lock washer freaking wanted to lose itself, so I had to wait until today to get a new one to complete the job. Not to mention, making sure the TWM plate was completely secure on the stock plate with like 50 different pieces....holy buckets...

at least it's done though.

I managed to torque one of the supplied bolts a little too much, to the point where it totally sheered off. I replaced it with a bolt and nut that I had lying around, one that was barely long enough.

That was a mistake.

During some spirited shifting, the nut popped off and wedged itself in the shifter, making it impossible to shift into 6th. Long story short, I went to my local Ace hardware shop and, for less than two bucks, I got a replacement bolt, nut, two washers and two lock washers (x2) to replace both mounting points. It feels right as reign now.

why the hell do I keep think I can work on cars? I'm trying to take off the Jbarone SSP but can't for the life of me pop the damn ball joint off. I guess I'm just too weak or something... epic failure, looks like its staying on forever and I won't be able to get my clunk looked at under warranty. **** this s***, im paying someone to install my catback when I get it. im too weak or something. I'm no meathead.

It was extremely difficult to get off when I installed it. Now I'm trying with all of my might and it won't budge. Chalk this one up to epic failure. going to put everything back together in the morning, I guess. I'm just not cut out for working on cars... my hands hurt, my back kills, and I'm super frustrated. I'm going to trade this car in for a mazda2 in the morning, I think...

Don't even joke about that, you ever drive or sit in one? They are a POS not worthy of the Mazda name. You will be disappointed if you trade your MS6 for one.

Bosch Icons FTW

it was like hurricane rain this morning and they kicked ass. (thumb)

And i know my dad would trade in his MS6 for a 2.

Its a cheap commuter car, what do you expect? ms6 level interior?

a ms6 costs 30k and a 2 cost like 15k

yea but new 3 is........blah, 2009 FTW

Sure, they're not the best lookers, but they've got more tech than a 2 has, more space, and the additional cost isn't all that bad. I'm talking just from a cheap commuter car status, I wouldn't look at anything above a 3 in terms of size.

I'd still rather have a new 3 over a 2. I'll take the hit on mileage for usability and practicality.

+1.

If I had to get a car "on par" with the 2 it'd be a Fiesta (yeah, I've been in one, waaay better than the 2) or a Smart Car. IIRC2's mileage isn't that great for it's engine size either.

The 2012 Focus looks promising as well. The Fiesta is nice, but optioned out they get expensive for a subcompact.

One day I want to sell my 6, the next day I'm thinking about getting a FMIC lol. Has anyone ever felt like this before? Different days different wants?

Yup, I was that way with my Protege5. We had a love/hate relationship. :) She pissed me off one morning on my way to work and threw a check engine light. I said 'thats it!' and went right to the Mazda dealer to get my MS6 :D

Fit>all sub compacts

Smart Car w/ Hayabusa 1300cc>all sub-compacts

Anyways, getting back to 6's, gonna give it a good wash and 303 Aerospace Protect the interior today, clean intake filter, maybe rotate the tires.

I went in and had the oil changed this morning on the way in to work. The guys at the Jiffy Lube were all drooling over it and I could hear one guy reciting specs. It made me pretty happy to see someone else get really excited about the car, kind of made me appreciate it more.

The bad news is that he said that the PTO and the rear diff are both leaking slightly, although they both seemed to have the proper levels of fluid. How bad is this? I'm going to see if I still have warranty left on those, but I may not. Are they critical immediate-fix items, or can they wait a little while? I seem to remember them both being fairly common. Bad seals maybe?

I got the estimate to fix the ding/chip on the front of my hood.

Are you sitting down?

$635.85
