What exhaust setup sounds best on Mazda 3i sport?

I really wanna believe that with stock #'s on an MS3 of 263hp and 272 ft lbs tq that somebody out there has hit the 300hp threshold.

they have...

but thats not the topic on this thread, save that for another time and place... (im trying to be nice and help you from getting even more flamed)

Ok, now I call bulls***. 3s are a bit more reactive to mods than a protege, no way in hell you got 30whp off of an intake, header and vtcs removal.

no I did more than that with my car... I was gonna make a Frankenstein turbo set up so i started to build up my motor.

Ractive SRI
OBX 4-1 Header
Custom 2.25" exhaust with a high flow cat
Ractive muffler
JE Pistons
K1 Rods and Crankshaft
Unorthodox Racing Pulley Kit
APR head kit
Mazdaspeed Cam kit from SR Motorsports
and a few other mods.

But my whole thing is thats what i would do with my 3.... but even on my protege i started with a SRi

wait you have a forged engine, and instead of spending the money to boost that and keep the 3 and a DD you're going to make them both bolt-on cars?

BUT WHY!? I'm so confused.

Like Carl said, everyone is looking at cost/benefit.

2k for 30whp n/a or 2k for towards turbo for 50whp+

It's just simple fact that you're gonna get more horsepower for less in the end by going FI

i just can't understand how you know so much about cars, yet seemingly know so little....?

I neva had it dynoed after the ported and polished intake mani, pistons, crack, and rods. i assuming its more so i short changed my car to be sure i didnt get the heckling. LOL

My friend used to own a Mazda Shop in Long Island, even tho he mainly did RX-7's he did great on my Protege.

raceroots is selling a 380whp rx8 for 28k mod list is rediculous and i kno nothing about rotarys. but if i bought it i can flaunt it

I'm all about built not bought, but if I had it, I'd buy that 8.. lol

regardless... that mod list looks funny to me..

its not that I know little. When I ask you guys questions, I play the background and act as if I know nothing cause I can always learn more. and if i come on here with the attitude some of you have. I'll be so full of my own knowledge that I might miss something that I wasnt aware of.

i meant the mod list from his protege.

this is going to get you heckled more than anything.... show us where you're starting from and ask the question you actually want answered... otherwise everyone just gets frustrated.

my gf does the same damn thing... and she has the answer I'm supposed to give planned out too. trust me, its just as annoying when she does it too. especially when I don't give the right answer! LOL

but you also have to weigh the whole "reliability" issue too...

i know for me, i wanted a little extra zooom-zoom in the 3, but since its my only car right now i couldnt afford to risk boosting it and have the motor pop... for me it made more sense to just add some bolt ons to add a little more zoom-zoom...
