what did you pay for your Mazda3 in the USA?

I just bought a 5-door, Titanium Gray 5-speed, no options, for $16,200 plus an additional $500 off for owner loyalty. $15,700 OTD, $17,415 sticker.

GT6,

Do you mind telling me what dealer that was at, because the place I got a price from is in NH, and I noyiced thats were your located.

The $15,700 "OTD" price does not include taxes and tags, right?

Shopping in the Washington DC area, I was able to get quotes from most dealers for $100 to $200 above invoice once I communicated a clear intent to buy and the need for a good deal.

I ended up buying a 5-door with ABS, airbags, moonroof, changer, Xenon, and TPMS for $17,200 and $17,808 out the door.

LeeLee, please check your PM's. I'm from the DC area too and have a few questions for ya. Thanks!

Long Island, NY
Ti 3s Sedan, 5sp, Sports, Moonroof/6CD, ABS/Airbags
17,500 + TTL with Owner Loyalty Program.
MSRP was 19,105.

You guys need to look at one thing.....he is giving you a cost for a loaded Mazda3 in SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

I know some dealers here in LA tack on as much as $5000 in dealer charges. Not all dealers do, but you may need to travel a bit to find one that doesn't.

I just got my 2004 Mazda 3s Black Mica sedan 5-speed with sport package, ABS package, xenon lights and 6 disc Cd/ Sunroof package for $19,100 including destination charge.

:D

I think allot of you are missing the point! You can get a Mazda 3 that is well equipped for around $15,000 to $16,000. It all depends on what you want. With all this talk about how it is crazy to pay around $20,000 for a Mazda 3, I think that you are forgetting that the car will only be as expensive as the options you get. You could go out and buy a used 1999 Audi, but good luck paying for it to get fixed. Or you can strut around in a Civic Ex and look like every 17 year old on the planet. I think that the Mazda 3 is an excellent car and I am very pleased with my new car purchase.

I had no idea those cars were selling for that much. That's way overpriced. I paid $21,000 for my S2000 with 25,000 miles on it. The Mazda 3 should only cost about $18,000 like the current Proteges. You guys are getting ripped off.

Overpriced compared to what new car?

According to Mazdas website $22,145 MSRP gets you, on top of the standard features:
ABS with Electronic brake distribution
Side impact airbags
Moonroof
6-disc in dash changer
17" alloys
Xenon
Tire pressure monitor
Leather
Navigation

I think they priced it fairly. A Toyota XRS MAtrix has an msrp of $22,368 with basically the same features minus leather, the 180hp vs 160hp balances out due to the powerbands.

I finally registered so I could get rid of everyone's signatures. I'm in the market for a Mazda3 and it looks like I will be buying pretty soon. As for what I am going to pay... I qualify for S-Plan through my employer, so the price I will pay is currently invoice minus $6. Not a bad deal, but sort of curious as to why they even bothered to subtract $6 from the invoice price. Usually the price is a few hundred below invoice. I suppose that in time the Mazda3 will settle to those prices.

The real reason I'm posting is to rehash an old argument in this thread. If any of you were still wondering why big_ben pays so little for his insurance, you can be assured that if he's telling the truth it has more to do with the fact that he's married than the fact that he's over 25. Contrary to popular belief, insurance doesn't drop all that much when a guy turns 25.

And as for the argument that the Mazda3 is overpriced, I'm sure most of you will agree that it is indeed priced very competitively given the features, quality level, and the chassis. I would say that it competes more with the GTI and the Jetta more than anything else and it still shows a lot of value over those cars, which show a lot of value over the cars that they previously competed with.

I would have to agree with that comment about the insurance. I was married when I was 20 years old and had a 1992 Mustang GT 5.0. I only paid $80 per month. When I got divorced about a year later it went up to almost $180 per month. At that time I was almost 22. I have only seen a slight decrease in my insurance premium after I turned 25 almost a year ago. I have not had any accidents for over 3 years.

Anyone lease one? I'm curious as what the payments would be like and what is offered on it. My friend is looking at getting one and he thinks he might have to lease it.

I don't think that Mazdas have historically been know for good resale values, so it probably isn't going to be cheap to lease. If your friend "might have to" lease it for the cheaper payments, then you should caution him against it. Very often, people take advantage of the low payments to get something they really can't afford, then find themselves in the situation where they owe an awful lot of money at the end of the lease due to excess mileage or excess wear and tear and then are nearly forced to finance the car for another 5 years to pay it all off. It ends up costing them a lot of money to own that car.

I totally concure with Brian_B. Unless he or she plans on turning it in, in 2 years, forget about leasing. (no)

Well I just test drove one this evening. I am looking at a Black Mica 3s sedan with the Sport, Moonroof/6-Disc/ and ABS, Air Bag packages. I am leasing as that is how I do it usually, cause I love low payments, plus I am closing on a new house in the next 3 weeks so money is an issue.

I got the sheet right in front of me:

I have the S-Plan.

So $17,873 is the price. + 1072.38 tax and $120 for plates.

That brings the price to $19,065.38

48 mo/lease 12K miles

$315 tax included. (in MI so 6%)

I really like this car. I enjoyed the test drive. I could do without all the red lights but overall this is a good car for the price. Compared to it's "competition" it is by far the best. (Corolla, Jetta, and Civic)

We'll see. I like it. I wanted a MSP and was 8 hrs from picking one up until the mortgage broker advised me not to do it. House comes first. =)

That doesn't seem like a low payment in comparison to what I am paying. I bought a 5-Door manual with ABS/airbags, Moonroof/Changer, and Xenon/TPMS with 3% virginia tax, financed at 3.9% for 60months, with a monthly payment of around $328. Of course there are other gives and takes between leasing and buying, but at least the lower lease payment argument doesn't seem to be significant in our cases.
