What cars can the MS3 run with?

clos561 said:
yea thats not my speed3 earlier in the thread we were sayin which car has ran fastest time so far and i posted that to show fastest slip with a ms3 so far

if it wasn't for warranty issues I would LOVE to get an upgraded turbo (probably the gt3076r) and then do up a FMIC, but I'm still waiting for a PnP EMS either from CP-E or COBB.... hopefully CP-E cause they do some kick ass s*** with the mazdaspeed cars...... (yippy) (thumb)

yea im waiting for plug n play stuff...im not gona **** with the turbo...im just going to get the most out of the car with tmic upgrade and a hood air duct or something along with all the other s*** that doesnt void the warranty or is reverable easily.

Yeah i've been thinking long and hard about a hood with a scoop, I don't want one that sticks out like the WRXs..... I was thinking a flush mount, so it's even lines across the hood but still an opening to force air in...... I've done a few photoshops to see how it would look, and I like it....... I would just have to have the money and a place to make it for me, (evil)

theres a link going aroudn with carbon fiber hood on a ms3 and its a air duct not a big scoop...which would be perfect for the tmic. if i find the link ill post i jsut got done diggin through threads and couldnt find it. i wouldnt really like a fmic for the chance of increase turbo lag and if u hit someone or something...there goes a couple hundred dollar core and some piping along with ur front bumper and hood maybe

true, a FMIC should only be considered when you upgrade the turbo......and turbo lag can always be dialed down these days...

but at the same time you can still screw your tmic in an accident if it's bad enough or if it's with a truck/suv, which sits higher than your car so you'd be screwing the hood/engine/tmic :(

either way you look at it sucks, so i always try to be careful....... do let me know if you find that link for the hood, I'd like to see how it looks.

it's ok, not exactly what I was thinking of, but not bad....

what does 130,000 yen and 90,000 yen come out to in USD?

you don't need the hood in CF, they offer it in another form "FRP" I'm assuming is the metal/steel OEM material.

ok i checked out corksport which sells the hoods.......but they are ripping people off

they charge 1054 regardless if you pick carbon fiber or FRP....... but according to the re-amemiya at 90k yen, it should only be about $740......

$1k for a after market hood!? (notcool) Even if fmic give you some turbo lag, is a good tradeoff. Turbo lag vs heat soak, hmmm, I think I'll pick turbo lag. Heat soak just kill hp. Now I do agree that getting a fmic with the ms3 stock turbo may not be nessesary, I think we could still see some improvment.
I'm not an expert so here is more info:

if i ever run anything higher than 25psi ill get a fmic..for now i dont plan on it and ill stcik with tmic upgrade and a hood is the distant future

you can still run 20 or 22 PSI...... you just need a larger turbo to fill out that 3 inch piping ;)

i keep telling him to get a twin turbo kit... i was telling him we will be same speed which is cool....the car runs 14.1? stock so its the same as speed3...it will be fun and i will have links to the videos when i post on youtube... he buying off a guy that installed cai.

Superchargers are better for Mustangs. Kenne Bell FTW!

ive seen videos of twin turbo mustangs owning supercharged ones off roll by a bunch....although he likes the sound of supercharger...he getting a deal....10500 for a 2001 bullitt mustang with 39k miles and "supposedly" the synchro is only thing wrong with the tranny...we drove in the car with him and he showed us that the 3rd doesnt go in right away at high rpms...i looked up the tranny online and its 1k and we cna get someone to do labor for a reasonable price..may not even need new tranny but thats worst case scenario...

turbochargers > superchargers....... I've seen a build up online of an F-150 Lightning.....guy took out the supercharger and put in a turbo........runs a hell of a lot faster than the supercharged lightnings.... and puts down a lot more power

the only reason why is because superchargers are "parasitic" and require the engine to spool them...... turbos spool on the exhaust gases..... so there's no rotating parts required from the engine to turn the turbo like a supercharger.

Well, I can add to the 'cars the MS3 can run with'.

Or rather... cars the MS3 can walk away from :D. Got into it with an S2000 on the highway the other night at like 2am. Dude was driving like a jackass in general, then comes and pulls up next to me riding right along side me. I had my wife in the car and even she was mocking this kid for how retarded he was driving and acting. He takes off and then slows way down to get next to me again. He tried again and this time I put it in fourth and went. Walked away from him EASILY... at about 90 ish miles an hour (was going about 50 when we started) I was easily 4-5 cars ahead of him. All I know is he had exhaust for sure, dunno what else but I saw/heard the exhaust after he went past me the first time and again for the ricer fly by after I whupped him the second time. I know regular bolt ons generally don't make any difference on that car anyways.

Only mod on my car is the MS CAI.

Almost all of the mustangs in my town (which is a s*** load) are super charged. Some of them are really fast. It depends on the application as to which is better. While there is some parasitic loss from a belt driving the system, it's also boosting power immediately.

Conversely, I have a friend who has a n '03 Cobra that has swapped out the supercharger for a (very large) turbo. Making somewhere north of 700 whp.

Personally, I didn't see the point. Money to burn, I guess. The guy never even gets on it anyways...friggin dyno queens make me mad :P

This is true....

I should have been specific stating you can almost always make more power with a turbo.... the only thing I dont like about superchargers = constant boost, and thus if you're boosting a lot of power, can relate to more tire spin.... i.e. difficulty hooking the tires. Which matters a lot at the drag strip.

I have a friend who just recently bought a mustang gt that's been twin turbo'd, took it to a friend's shop where they have a dynojet and put down about 749 hp..... he gets on it though.... runs a good low tens in the 1/4 consistently, he did pull a 9.8-something once, but that was on a good day with some great traction.....

Most mustangs around me are supercharged as well, but the REAL fast ones have a turbo or 2 under the hood.
