What car did you trade in for your CX-5?

2013 Sport MT CX-5 for 2014 Touring CX-5 Soul Red - Mine. Had to get auto, 2.5 and loved the color.

2007 Honda Odyssey for 2014 Touring CX-5 AWD White - Wife. Poor MPG, no need for a minivan anymore, car's age vs. current trade in value was really good now.

2007 CX7 with ~ 70,000 miles. No problems and running great. I'm retired and just wanted a nice new vehicle.

I traded-in my 2006 Chevy silverado crew cab with 120k miles. Main reason was the gas I was getting close to 12 mpg

I traded my 2009 Honda Civic with just shy of 100K miles. I liked the Civic, not an exciting car, but got me where I needed and was very reliable. I thought about buying a used SUV as a second car because I wanted more space for things like bikes, trips to home depot, etc. But decided after seeing what I could get in trade for my Civic and the fact I had wanted a Mazda for a while, that the CX-5 satisfied my needs for extra space while managing to be a fun, fuel efficient daily driver. It has pretty much held up to that ideal and while there are a few things that Honda did better, but the CRV just didn't appeal to me. I've read about a few people go from Civic's to CX-5s. My theory is as a single, 30 something male, the CR-V just seems to frumpy to me, where the CX-5 has just enough youthfulness to have it edge out the CR-V during my purchase decision. Another consideration during my purchase was the Ford Escape and I still think about it. Liked the interior more than the CX-5; interior lighting, pano sunroof, subwoofer, better nav, etc. The CX-5 has the Escape on exterior looks, MPG, and handling. I guess it is 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Good chance I would have gotten the Escape if the dealer hadn't been so annoying.

Trading in my nissan xtrail 2006 with 165000km. Main reason up coming repairs and gas mileage.

2004 BMW 325I 89K miles. Reason: Too expensive to maintain and wanted a new ride

My best friend had a 2005 BMW 325i (with EVERY option available- base price $29,995, but his stickered for almost $42k)! It was sharp in Black Sapphire with the Sport Package, but I would have went for the a 330i at $37k and lived without some of the niceties).

Like several other 3-series that friends and family have owned, it was way too expensive to maintain and, within 10k of the warranty expiring, it began a "self-destruct" sequence.....

German cars are great....as long as they're under warranty! =)

I traded a 2009 Xtrail 173ps.

Just got bored with the car after 4 years and wanted the extra torque for towing.

CX-5 has 310 pound feet, Xtrail was 266.

Mazda is a much better towcar, but lacks the storage of the Nissan, I also miss the 6 CD changer!

As for the tomtom and Bluetooth its not in the same league as the Nissan.

Still overall I'm really enjoying the Mazda, the engine alone makes up for all the faults the car has.

I always wanted a 6 cd changer and although my last car would play mp3's off a cd disk it felt a bit strange.
Now with a 16GB usb stick in the cx-5 I have most of my cd collection ripped on it, so I guess I'll the cd-changer will be going the way of tape, 8-track etc.

The engine is a peach which is going to be a real problem finding something better come trade in time!

I traded a 2000 Ford Explorer - 315600 miles...was still driving it to work but many little things not working and it was starting to drip. Also needed something that gets much better gas mileage.

Traded for a Silver 2013 CX5 Touring with the Bose/Moonroof package. It was sitting in the dealers showroom. They wanted to get it out of there with the 14,s out so they offered a deal. Couldn't resist even tho it has the 2.0 instead of the 2.5 engine. Love'n it so far.

Those old Explorer truck drivetrains were amazing for long term durability, a family member owns a 2001 Explorer with 185K, still using it daily without problems. I traded a 2007 Explorer V8 (that was less impressive from a durability standpoint) for the CX-5.

Congrats on your new CX-5.

Picked up my CX-5 on Friday. I traded in a 2008 Audi A3, 3.2L Quattro AND a 2006 VW Touareg V8. Straight up trade, walked away without losing a dime...but I do miss the Audi. The touareg I wasn't too attached to, mainly cause it drank premium fuel like it was its job.

VERY happy with my new CX-5!

I didn't trade anything for my CX-5 that I just bought. I started a new job about 3 months ago, and I was spending about 450 dollars on gas, per month, on my 2001 F150 Crew Cab. I love my truck, and I'm not getting rid of it, plus it is so useful to have a truck around. Since I hadn't bought a car for myself in more than 12 years, I though it was time to get me one :-) I was looking specifically at small SUV's and fell in love with the CX-5.

2006 Toyota Matrix XR. Was fine for a first car, but even with winter tires, it was terrible during the snowy months. Can't wait for the snow to fall so I can have some fun with the CX-5's AWD!

I traded a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe GL Sport (Canadian model) V6 - I was in a car accident with that one (everyone was fine) and I was not at fault, got side swiped by a car taking over and not shoulder checking. I loved the SF but after the accident the car just did not "Feel" the same if you get what I mean? Also the repair job was done poorly, I am still driving it until my Blue CX5 will be delivered. As a matter of fact the dealer called tonight, I was not home, and that is how I know I am getting the blue color that I wanted. The dealer was not sure if they could deliver that color. If all goes well I pick it up on Friday afternoon or next week Friday. I think to myself, the sooner the better. For those reason of shoulder checking and the other advanced options in the CX5-GS and the easy addition of a NAV system I fell for the car. Coming from a 276HP beast into a 184HP 4 banger does not really matter to me, I like the car very much (test drove at night and by day in the rain). I also let my wife drive it for 30 minutes while I was negotiating and overall I am happy with the deal.

2010 Mazda 3. More room, better features, better fuel economy since my 3 was before Skyactiv, better stability in the snow.

I traded a 2004 PT Cruiser w/ 118000+ miles

1.) Gas milage (PT got 19 MPG)
2.) Needed $$ into it (New tires, alternator, battery, timing belt, tune up, etc)
3.) Wanted AWD and better ground clearnace
4.) More power
5.) Size
6.) Tech

The CX-5 is better in almost every way. Plus I have only owned one new car before the CX-5.

Scott
