Went to an 1/8th today

I went to an 1/8th today that is somewhat near my house. Best time out of 3 runs was a 10.8 @ 66.35mhp, not good, but not as bad as I thought it would be. i was guessing mid 11's for the 140hp motor.

I'll run again when I'm turboed just for a compairson.

oh yea, id just like to add that wheel hop is a b****. probably could of been faster if i hadn't hopped out of the tree. and into second.

Man that's kinda crappy for 10.8@66.35mph, our 0-70 comes in at 10.8sec, so i think you hit 60 like in the high 8's to low 9's. But when your car is turbo'ed i think you'll be around high 8's to low 9's. Good job though.

yea, i got absolutly no traction in first, and i launched at 2k, nothing too high, it really just hopped. i guess motor mounts are in the future.

i noticed that in the MP3 if you launched more than 2-2500rpms you get no traction at all. The tires just start chirpping and just vibrates for like 3-5sec. Has anyone mastered this yet.

hey man you are probably doing what i did and revving too high

launch at about 3000rpms and shift into second at 6k and the rest of the gears at redline. go try that and make sure your car is all warmed up

wheel hop...

I experience a lot of wheel hop too. What I do trying to get rid of this hop, is ride a split second longer on the clutch, and balance the clutch/gas. You might have to replace the clutch sooner but it will do the job. "Control the car, don't let the car control you."

MP3skaterNC, don't listen to triton, you did fine. With no mods but my short ram intake, I ran a 10.56@66.3, which translated into a 16.4 in the 1/4. That's .4 seconds faster than the car is supposed to be able to do stock.

When I was stock, I ran a 10.696@67.12, which translated into a 16.5 in the 1/4, which was still .3 faster than stock was supposed to be.

Basically my point is that compared to what they SHOULD be, my times are good, and since yours are close, you didn't do "sucky" like triton insists.

thanks dino, i might go to a 1/4 sunday. stupid dsm friends dragging my ass to dragstrips, oh well gives me something to pass the time with until autocross season starts.
