Went On The Most Beautiful Hike Ever Today...

To celebrate our 2 year anniversary, my girlfriend and I took a hike up to Grassi Lakes near Canmore here in Alberta. It's about an hour drive from the city (at 90MPH) but definitly worth it.

To start, here are some small pics of the trip up there. One of the Pro at a quick rest stop near Lac Des Arcs (in the background) and the rest were taken driving through Canmore.

Edit: And yes, that was our average speed the whole way there to keep the Mazdaspeed muffler somewhat bearable...

Here are a few more. A quick pic Natasha took of me driving on the way up is first, the nsecond let me introduce you to her dog Kazmo. (Pronounced Cosmo.) She seems to like me more than Natasha, and I tell ya, I love that dog to death. The third pic shows me and kazmo looking down on a small reservoir after we hiked up. for about 30 mins. The 4th pic is this cool little part where this stream cut across the walking path and in the light, it looked like there were jewels in the rocks. Finally, it's a big waterfall we saw on the way up. The pics don't do it justice, but it was truly beautiful. Just something we saw along the way.

Here the first pic shows me chillin' by the waterfall with Kazmo. Then, going back a bit, there's a pic of Natasha and Kazmo at that reservoir thing. One more shot of the trip up and the cool formations in the Rockies. And in the 4th pic, it's the "Grassi Lakes" themselves. Named after some guy named Lawrence Grassi who discovered them, they also look like they have grass in them from all the algae. I can't believe how clear the water is though. That lake is about 50 ft deep! The last shot shows the lower of the two lakes. The spot I'm at isn't really on the trail, I just hiked up a bit to get a better picture.

On the way back down now, the first shot shows the town of Canmore about a 10 minute drive away from where we parked. We still had about an hour long hike down. Next, here's me with Kazmo again on the way back down. They have these rock stairs on this realyl steep section. One more shot of Tasha and Kazmo as we get closer to the parking lot, and the last one is just a shot of that reservoir in case someone wants it for a background or something.

Hope you enjoyed all the pics!

Very kool pics !
I had just done this hike yesterday.... The "more difficult" route is the one to take. the easy route is just a gravel path. The lake is soo clear and there are awesome fish up there

Sweet Nick! That's awesome. I might have to hit that up. How long was the hike altogether?

lol you bastard you copied ME! the auto meter stickers in the gauge pod was my idea!! anyways, nice pix,

Awesome pics, those mountains look awesome. I still need to head over to some Canadian mountains (kind of North from Montana), these blue waters are just beautiful.
Next week I'm doing some hiking in Maine for 5 or some days, I might post some pics when I get back, seeing that there are some hikers in here :)
