We Wanted A Cheap Car, We've Got It!

I am pissed because I had to take my car to the dealer twice this week for the usual problems that we all have with our MSP's!!
Why are we having some many problems with our cars? Was Mazda in a rush? Are we having problems with the stereo and suspension when it's almost the same setup as the MP3? Wasn't Mazda aware of the problems in the MP3? Did not Mazda pay Calloway enough money to design a better turbo kit? I had pipes come apart and break for no reason!! I am not complaining too much because after all I paid only $16k for my car, but I should have looked into it more. I would have rather spent $20k on something more reliable with less problems.
How can Dodge afford to sell the SRT-4 with upgraded engine internals, FMIC, LSD and more for just $19800?
 
Cars are cars. The are prone to having problems just like any other mechanical device.

I hope you don't think any other car out there is without problems. Do you think Dodge doesn't have service departments that fix problems with Neons?
 
the mp3 has the same suspension probs we do, and they've been trying to fix it since they came out. yea the turbo design could've been better, but it's not terrible.
and i've heard of more than one person (actually know one) who has an srt that has had it in for warranty work more than they have been able to drive it, and their car is bone stock. their car has its own problems, just be happy none of yours are serious.
 
The only real problem I have is the clunk other than that I have had zero probs. The cut I am not fond of but it is not Mazda's fault completely also the speed limiter is a bit "ghey" especially with ZR rated tires but oh well Emang and some time can cure that.
 
Loj68 is filing for lemon law on his SRT-4 and yes the MSP has some problems but most have solutions. If your pipes are busting, get hardpipes. Fixes the problem and gives a little more kick to the power too. Callaway did a really good job with the tuning until they gave it back to Mazda and Mazda detuned it. Thats what I heard anyway.
 
my friend has the neon srt-4 and has been to the dealer about 5 or 6 times in the last 3 weeks, his 4th spark plug wire keeps melting and some suspension issues also. its a nice car and fast as hell but it has been to the dealer alot more than mine has. doesn't matter what company makes the car they will all have issues, except for Yugo, that company rocks !!
 
if u want a reliable car, get a honda......i dont care if somehting goes wrong on my msp, thats what a warrenty is for....
 
:wtf: I don't understand the complaining. I am new to the forum and was scrolling through and there is nothing but complaints. We obviously bought a car that can outhandle many other cars. Our suspension is obviously Very stiff, we wouldn't have one of the BEST Handling front wheel drive vehicle in the market.

I may be missing something though because I don't know much about this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
oi! You guys seem to think that a fast reliable car is something that goes hand in hand with a decent price.... it does not.


Want a reliable, fast car..... step up a price class.


However, the problems we have with our MSP's are NOT big problems in comparison to other cars.

lets list the big problems with our car

1) Hesitation: Somewhat of a fix now... acceptable by most standards

2) "Clunk": Fix for the problem available but re-occurs. Does not effect overall performance of the car.

3) Sub shorts out: Easy replacement


Now compare the 3 big problems we have with our car to that of most people. Big gripe is somewhat fixed.... other 2 are just pains in the ass but no big deal.... none of them render the car undriveable.

I'd take those 3 problems any day over the problems many other cars in our "class" have.
 
you guys definitly got the shaft on the suspension.. I cant believe they didnt re-design it b4 selling the MSP's.

Buy the dodge and tell me you have less problems.

LOL! Yeah Right. 2001 Civic EX... two trannys. Honda bought the car back when it went in to get the third one. The only and last Honda I will ever own.
 
hmmmm...lemon law is very useful in ur case.....my family has owned 4 hondas total, 3 of which for 10 plus years wit no major mechanical trouble other then reg maintence......u cant judge a whole legancy of great cars cus u got a lemon car, plus more and more japanesse cars are gettin built in the u.s or mexico or something, there goes reiliably:rolleyes:

they can't. thats why the 04's are the ones that have the LSD's and cost about $1000 more than the 03's without

and yes,our cars are cheap
 
the srt-4 is a pos, i dont care if its fast all u can do is go straight with it, at least the protege chasis can handle good.
 
uhh im just glad i dont have a honda

btw what happened? did all car manufactures get so used to making econoboxes that they forgot how to make REAL cars. it seems every factory attempt at performance vehicles falls apart. i havent heard of any problems with the mitsubishi camp, im thinking that evo is really the answer. but why the hell did they quit making eclipses turbo charged? everyone knows thats the only trim package that sold the GSX and the GS-T (correct me if im wrong there)
