Wax recommendations

Now that spring is here I want to wash and wax my blue Mazdaspeed3. I'm wondering what you recommend as a good wax to use?

I'd like to avoid those 3-step waxes, as I simply don't have the time to apply them all. But I would like to get something that lasts a good while and leaves a nice shine. Any recommendations?

As far as off the shelf stuff goes, I'm a fan of either Meguiars or Mothers products. If you're not into the 3 step process, just go with a carnuba cleaner wax. For something that will last a long time, you're going to want a synthetic polymer wax, like Nu-Finish. It lasts almost a year, but I've had issues with applying and removing. It's a b**** to get off. I haven't tried applying it with my Porter-cable orbital buffer though, just by hand.

check our detailing section for info

also check out autopia.org, and detailingbliss.com for in depth reviews and whatnot.

if your not into waxing often, id recommend a synthetic sealant

Turtle wax ice has gotten quite the rave reviews lately... very easy to use as I used it myself just 2 days ago.

BUT, I happen to think it kinda really sucks. Feels smooth, but has become a pollen magnet since I used it and the shine is, well.... not that shiny.

or is that 'the shinning'?

i dont know to much about consumer product but if you are having trouble with pollen/dust sticking to your paint then use a quick spray/spray wax after waxing. its actually best to use a detail spray while removing wax off the car because 1. it makes it easy to wipe off the wax and 2. it helps make everything even. this is something that we never skip at my shop

Meguiar's Tech 2.0 is the best wax I have ever used. No white powder, easy to go on and off, takes alot less time. Totally stay away from the Turtle Wax Ice. It is s***!!!

I've had great results from 3M Performance Finish

best one step p/s product? without asking about washing habits or current condition of your paint...

i'd say this is the best stuff out there that i've found-

http://www.optimumcarcare.com/optimumpolish.html#poli

I have to thank ThrillRide for turning me onto Optimum's stuff....

talk about fast...get a porter cable 7424, 3" and 6" adapter plates, 4" CCS white foam pad and 5.5-6" foam white pad, a nice super plush MF towel and you will have an incredible and long lasting finish for quite some time, in very minimal time.

I bought Zymol thinking it was Zaino. I knew it was a wax that started with a Z and it was expensive. Having said that, I think Zymol works very well. It also smells like Pina Coladas. That could be a bonus if you like fru fru drinks and are thinking about making the transition to sitting down when you pee.

When what you needed all along was thorazine...

Considering the wife's current condition, you must be very familiar with the whole "wax off" process, though.

Check my sig. Lots of talk about wax/sealants there and just about every website worth going to to get what you need.

I have used and loved Duragloss Aquawax for the last year. It is a spray on, buff around and off type of wax. It's also a polymer wax. I use it approx. every two months immediately after washing. Takes about an hour (I take my time). Car looks great afterwards and gets lots of compliments. Not the best as far as length of protection, but so easy to apply and works so well you won't mind doing it more often.

cheap too... $7 bottle will last several applications. probably 6-10.
