Wax recommendations

I never attacked you. I gave facts and now you are getting defensive and flaming me and calling me names. Please stay on topic from here on.
Despite the facts, I am amazed all the time when I see spdrcr's car. The biggest problem with the Mitsubishi is the paint, and his car's paint is spectacular despite being driven year yound; daily. He definitely knows what he is talking about.

the reflection comment was made for newbs to tell easier if there is a problem. the same with the swirl problem

but reflection is not the right way to go at all; my wife's '07 Si; it's got some pretty bad waterspot damage that's required some pretty heavy work with my machine and some Optimum compound. It also had some major spiderwebbing and what they call holograms from the dealer detailer hitting the thing up prior to delivery from a recent major transmission warranty issue. the entire time, pre-machine work, if the car was clean, the reflection was incredible. i could read stuff in the reflection, distinguish petals on flowers, etc....

and you also said clay doesn't remove wax, i countered, and you again said you were talking about clay bar. pinnacle claims their bar won't remove wax, but it's common knowledge most formulations simply do.

anyway,

don't hate on thrillride; he's about as to the point as you can get with quality no frills info. what he says has certainly made alot more sense to me than what you've said, and i'd imagine it'd be the same if a n00b was reading, so if i were you i'd chill out and let thrillride continue as he is...

My car looks amazing. That's what counts right. Whatever I am doing works for me. I learned from the best. And have no problem learning new tricks of the trade. I don't claim to know everything. But what I do know works. Next time I might think twice before helping out a fellow enthusiest.
Just because we don't see eye to eye on everything doesn't mean I don't respect his input and expertise.

How do you feel about pure carnuba vs the new synthetic waxes. I like them both for different reasons.

synthetic sealants for protection and durability

carnuba for looks.

well thats how i feel anyway.

i dont feel you get long last protection with carnubas...

The product I use depends on where the car came from, straight from a dealer or used.

For used cars I've had very good luck with meguiars 3 step wax. This is a cleaner, a polish and finally a wax. Its very long lasting and does wonders to bring your paint back to life.

For new cars these one step quick products seem to produce good results - as they should - the paint is clean, new and free of swirl marks.

I personally would suggest that you say away from the one step easy on/off products unless you can repeat this process every 3/4 months. Not to say that these cant last longer but if you dont (or cant) give your car lots of attention you'll get more mileage out of more traditional products.

Also keep in mind that all the nice folks providing information here live in different areas and face different day to day conditions so that effects the results they get out of the products reviewed here.

very good point about the area the car is garaged/driven in. What works great for me in sunny and rainy florida may not be so easy and nice in say upstate michigan with their snow and salty roads :)

I've been using Super Glaze made by The Wax Shop for years. It's a 100% liquid Carnuba wax that goes on and comes off easily. No white residue, no hard rubbing to get it off. Just wipe it on and wipe it off.
