water to air intercooler

I think a water to air on the MSP would be perfect with the 505zoom IM. Think about it come off the turbo and go right then make a 90 to go toward the driver seat and put your intercooler there and then go from their straight into the TB. You could put the pump and water and the ice box in the trunk and route all the hoses under the car......

That's essentially what I have for piping. Only downside is that there's really no room for relocating the MAFS to a coldpipe since all I've got between the IC and the TB is a 90 degree coupler.

ive been measureing it would fit perfect over my aem intake pipe with no problems with clearence..I put some stuff up for sale on ebay so I can gather some money but I HAD A SET BACK I lost my retainer now i need to buy another lol..

Hmm, interesting placement. I know both terbow and myself had relocated our batteries to the trunk and put the core up next to the motor there, but that looks like it should be a decent spot if you use a core with inlet and outlet on the same side.

How big of a core did you guys get ? I suppose what I'm looking at maybe fairly dmall but I'm doing this on a budget.

Ya the one I'm looking at is on ebay 11x6x4.5 core I know its risky ordering from there but they got the size I want and the price I can't beat next Friday I should be ordering..

I ran power directly from the battery to a 40A relay. The relay supplies power to both the pump and a fan on the heat exchanger, and is switched by a toggle switch in the cabin. The toggle switch gets accessory power, so the only time the pump/fan can be on is when the car is running or on accessory power.

I'm thinking of wiring in a fan controller that's switched by the water temp. Summit Racing has a fan controller that goes from 32-200F for only like $30, so I can have the fan only come on when the water temp exceeds, say 80F.

So finaly got around to testing my water pump and it didnt work so I went back to pick and pull and found a cadillac cls took that pump tested it there and it was fine..Walked around found a Water resevoir from a vw bug that would work good for the intercooler...then also found a JASMA manifold for a MR2 which will pay for the intercooler once i sell it all of this cost me 52.00..good day people..

Orderd intercooler today. Wired in the relay and on switch for pump got fittings set up on water jug. Just need to mount everything and we will be set..

So cx raceing called me today said there out of stock on the intercooler but would be willing to trade for another I said that I would wait for the one I wanted but great customer service so far..

When you get that core, can you post some close-up pics of the welds, end-tanks and (if possible) the fins inside the core? I'm curious to know what kind of quality those parts are.

ya no prob that is also one of my fears is that if it fails hydrolock..but im not running that much boost and the pump isnt as aggressive as i once though it it to be. Also I will be running the system out of the car for at least 1 day just to see if it leaks at any point...

Naw, even on the cheap cores, all the welds are on the outside of the core, so a catastrophic failure would be no worse than blowing an IC coupler. Any internal failure would almost certainly just be a pinhole leak or something like that.

Well thanks for the reasurance just tryin to be safe but the one they where trying to trade me was about the same style as yours and my mind is set as far as where this thing is going so no othere shape will work in the end patience will payoff I'm excited lol
