Water Injection Results... dayum!

I can go take a couple of pics tonight- it looks a little ghetto right now because I have the tank zip tied to the mounting brackets. I used a 1.25 gallon drinking container- the kind that you can buy at wal-mart to hold drinks for your fridge.

I chose this one because it is tall and skinny- this way, the fluid doesn't slosh around too much when I turn.

That was my main concern. It'll be a while before I concider doing alc/water injection, but I had wondered where it was stored and what it was stored in to prevent spilling.

I'M RETARDED! Yep, thats right- the pump never failed. A mounting screw on the pump *happened* (my fault) to get too close to a power wire, and I guess it wiggled itself through eventually. A trip to radio shack and 4 days later, the pump works great again. My tank is now trunk mounted and higher capacity, and I am using water/methanol blend now. The boost is still dropping off, but instead of dropping to 6.5 or so like it used to, now it drops to 9 psi from 11 psi. Not bad.

Once again, the car feels way faster, and hopefully I can prove it this friday.
Don't you hate it when something that simple happens!!! Glad to hear it is up and running again!

Here is a pic of the water tank in the trunk. Excuse the ghettoness, it should be prettier soon enough.

Just so you know, I sealed the spigot with epoxy.

its not that ghetto :)

If anyone in the US wants a LARGER Windshield washer fluid tank (the canadian one is 2x as big)..... let me know. The Canadian Spec Protege5 has a different tank. I found this out the hard way when I did my Hiboost install. The Canadian tank does not allow you to install the FMIC piping properly. I had to order a US spec one...and it swapped PERFECTLY in.

A larger tank would be perfect for water/alc injection.

I dont think it's very ghetto. I mean, there's not much you can do instead of zip ties in that situation. Only thing I could possibly think of to pretty it up some would be painting the metal brackets black. Don't take offense to that because I think it's good the way it is.

It's funny you should mention painting the brackets black- I had a set of brackets on there that I painted black, but they ended up being too short. I plan on painting these black too.

I am considering painting the whole thing black then leaving a small strip of unpainted section to view how much water is left. But, I'm not really going to worry about it too much- I very rarely have my trunk open.

Two more days to find out how fast this setup (with ice cubes in it) will be!

i cant wait, i am really into this water injecion system you bought. I may even pick mine up in the next few weeks.

14.5!!!! Thats about a whole second of improvement. I say that because I ran the 15.1 on 15 psi, but I ran the 14.5 on 13 psi today!

I left the slip in the car, but here it is from memory:
60' 2.20
1/4 14.578
1/4 mph 92.something

This is just with ice in the trunk mounted tank and corksport exhaust.

I have the slip, I'll correct it later if it turns out i missed something.

Finally, something to be proud of. I know I can knock a couple of tenths off that time, because I'm still having trouble with spinning off the line and shifting into second. On a side note, it was in the 40's last night and I kept hitting fuel cut at 10 psi. It sucks, but it was fast that night too. Anyway, no fuel cut today.

I was afraid to run more boost, because when I used to run 15 psi, it would drop off to 7 psi by redline, but now my boost holds all the way through, so I didn't want to push it.

So, still not wonderful times, but definitely enough to beat all the stupid ricers on the road with the civics and neons that have nothing but loud exhausts.

With water injection you can get away with more boost..b/c of cooler conditions in the combustion chamber..like when runnin c16 race fuel!

Agreed. You can also up the octane by running a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol, but I would still be careful.

I was running 50/50 methanol/water mix. I do have to worry about fuel cut above like 14 psi on warmer days, and like 11-12 psi on the colder days, though.

I definitely am very careful- I don't run very high boost all the time, only when I put the good, cold mix in the trunk and such. It still scares me when I run over 11, but I think I'm getting used to it.

I still need to drive way better. This car has to be capable of so much more. Maybe I'll get some drag radials, but not for a while. Maybe at the end of the season, or maybe for Christmas. Haha.

why doesn't anyone else try this? It seems like an amazing mod. And the price is definitely reasonable.

i am still $100 short, had to dip into the savings to get some 3" exhaust put on tommorow. I will be ordering by the end of august, early sept. Is there anyone who would want to do a groupbuy with me?

OK, i think this is the one we are talking about:

http://www.aquastealth.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=88&HS=1

2-2 $224.00 (Per Item)
3-3 $214.00 (Per Item)
4-6 $209.00 (Per Item)

Now for the questions, anybody know what the dual stage injection is about?

Did you get the Variable Injection control module? Site says itTakes 0 to 5v dc input such as throttle position, MAF, MAP sensor. One dial allows you to select the spray on point. Another dial adjusts the injector flow relative to the sensor output. This will reduce water/alcohol usage as well provide it at a rate to match your air and fuel intake needs. This could also eliminate the need for a FMU such used on ATI,Vortech, etc kits. If you are nearing the limit of your injectors or fuel supply, this may be the solution to your problem. Why add 93 octane gasoline when you can use much higher octane alcohol, on demand?

Did you get this one or the normal one?

Whos in?

I am getting an Aquamist system, so if you want to do a GB on that then I'm with you. More expensive, but better and tested by many cars.
