Water build up on passanger side rear footwell.

A friend of mine has a 99 Protege, non 5(but I think you guys might be able to help). She said she has had water build up issues in the rear passenger side foot well. She said at worse 3" of water. She said the door panel and seats remain dry. She thought it was rain related, but she said the worse it has been was after a 12 hour drive. I have not looked at it yet, but there I think there is a foot well vent for the heat under the seat. If the radiator core had a leak it could be running out there.

Does any one else have any other ideas?

pretty sure its your ac. it might be clogged. I would get in i na shop asap so it doesn't leak on your wires to your ECU and fry it.

What does the fluid feel like? Water? Or is it slippery like coolant?

Like Chim64 said, it's probably a clogged AC drain that is somehow leaking into the cabin. Any mechanic should be able to clean out the drain.

it's the heater core. you're not the only one. there's a couple like this going around. it's either a leak or clogged.

If it was coolant or any fluid but water, the smell would be very apparent. I had the heater core go twice on a Thunderbird (Maybe it was 3 times!) and when it went, you could smell the coolant. I concur that it's probably A/C related.
