Wanting more power

:
03 MSP
Ok, ive read alot of threads on here telling you not to boost your MSP over 10psi without having a built bottomend, turbo upgrade and what not. I dont have the money for all this s***.

I was wondering if i just upgraded the rods and pistons if i would still have trouble with the motor blowing up over 10psi?

Also, why is it that when people run the T3/T4 turbos on the MSP's they are slow as s*** but boosting like 15psi. But the guys with the t28's are getting way more horsepower. i dont get it because t3/t4's should be pushing waaaay more horse.

upgrading your rods/pistons is building your bottom end... so you answered your own question there.

do not touch a single part on your car until you learn wtf you are doing on a turbo car. stock motor and turbo are good for 300HP if you know what you are doing. if not you will be joining the zoom zoom boom blown motor club. read first. mod later. start with turboback exhaust.

the people using t3/t4 are mostly not MSPs, but ESs and P5s that added turbos. Why t3's? They're $600 as opposed to $1200

you have to match the right turbo to the engine. the reason the gt28rs is making so much power on the msp is b/c it is the best fit for the engine. there is a formula to match the right turbo for your engine by using your engine specs and the compressor map.

many people have done this and learned the gt28rs is the best match for our engines.

i've mapped the gt28rs before and saw how efficent they work together, which is why i'm running it. its more efficient than the stock t25r, as they tend to fall off the peak efficiency range after 8psi, and completely fall off the map after 14psi.

i never mapped the t3/t4, but i'm willing to guess it'd be off the efficiency chart to the far left, meaning it too big and can't spool it.

yeah, with a GOOD tune the motor is OK for 300WHP. but at that something will eventually give. i tuned mine for about 280WHP/295WTQ and I`m OK so far, but i have my motor parts in my room ready for a rebuild. tuning is super important and he`s gonna need to spend some good $ on engine mgnt and exhaust to get that. also, the transmission donesnt like it. just get a CAI + catless down/mid pipe + EBC + AFC and run your 10psi.
