Video of my Protege lapping at Watkins Glen International Raceway in New York

A few weeks ago I had my Protege (a 1994 DX with 245,000 miles) out at Watkins Glen Internation in central New York. Watkins Glen is long, straight, and fast--not really a good combination for a car that had 102hp new and likely has much less now. Yet I moved along quickly enough and passed a Porsche 944 in the corners leading up to the front straight.

Here's a link to the video on my website: http://www.pansypatrol.com/its-the-driver-...d-watkins-glen/.

Enjoy,

That was fun to watch...nice camera mount. A couple of scary moments for your buddy..lol but nice driving skills guys!

I like it! The car in front of you could have used a little more sway bar. That thing was leanin like crazy.

I'm assuming that was you in the miata? Glad to see another one of us around here. Check out the Miata / MX5 section some time and come say hi! :)

i'm leaning towards that was his buddy in the miata, and we watched him from his buddy's point of view.

Bingo. Yes, that's me in the Protege. My friend is tailing me in his Miata.

Anyway, the Protege does lean quite a bit, but it certainly doesn't need more bar. It has oversized bars as it is--a cheaper alternative to actually spending money on suspension. You should have seen it lean before I put the bars in. :D

What it really needs--and what I'll likely do over the winter since it's just too damn fun to track my POS protege--is stiffer springs. The springs in it right now are the mildest of upgrades. With stiffer springs and maybe a little less bar, it'll be much better set up.

Nice. You guys were hitting the turn in/apex/track out cones pretty well.
